Intermittent power failure and network communication failure

Intermittent power failure and network communication failure
March 15, 2020 05:20AM
I am seeing intermittent power loss when the printer and communication dies. Blue and red led remains on but ethernet is not lit anymore. Serial and ethernet communication remain interrupted.

I have an Ormerod2 refitted with a Duet Maestro Ethernet.
Board: Duet Maestro 1.0
Firmware: RepRapFirmware for Duet 2 Maestro 2.03 (2019-06-13b2)
I am using the Duet Web Control 2.07

I can print for 10 minutes sometimes then it just dies. Unplugging+waiting may restore services. Just toggling the switch and removing USB cable does not suffice. The network fails intermittently also without any activity from my end. Enclose M122 status report when idle.

Is there an earthing problem?

I have disconnected the heated board because there was a short circuit earlier on. Maybe I damaged the Duet?

Does anyone know if there is a test to run to see if the board is damaged?
Howto check if the motors have connection problems?

Most recent print lasted 47 seconds. I had the serial USB cable removed.
After toggling the power switch twice no communication working. Turning off and pushing the X-cart back and forth and turning on power returns the services.
How does this make sense?

Your M122 report indicates that the firmware crashed, and that the firmware you are running is 2 major versions out of date. I suggest you upgrade to firmware 2.05.1.

That was an interesting explanation and suggestion. I managed to upgrade to 2.05 by downloading and installing the "Duet2Firmware-2.05.zip" from the web frontend. Tried printing and the machine stopped after 9 min 24 s. Blue and red diod but nothing more happening. Hard reset eventually restored the machine.
Is there a similar zip-package for 2.05.1 or should I use the "Duet2CombinedFirmware.bin" or possibly "DuetMaestroFirmware.bin". I pulled them in one by one and now I will run another print. Fingers crossed smiling smiley
Thanks for your kind assistance

The software upgrade improved the situation and printing halted after approx 45 minutes. Unrecoverable. Power cycled four times before yellow led came alive.
Did I do the complete upgrade correctly?
When I run M122 the website says the response is too slow. It has not improved.
Why is the network (FTP HTTP serial port) and network socket stopped?

Next time it stops, comnect via USB and YAT, and run M122 from there.

To upgrade to 2.05.1 just upload file DuetMaestroFirmware.bin to the Duet.

I think I can conclude the Duet is now working! I uploaded all the relevant files through the web frontend and now it is not shutting down any more. So your help was invaluable. Warping and fixing the print to the Kapton surface is next challenge. I think I will need to resolder the broken hot plate.

Thanks again for all your work! You are being watched :-)

I'm glad its solved. If you need help in future, you will most likely get a faster response if you post at [forum.duet3d.com] because that's where the Duet support staff hang out.
