Core-XY Printer

Im designing a core-xy printer, loosley based off (copying parts from):
[github.com]
[forums.reprap.org]

Some design considerations:

All parts to be inside the cube. (asthetics and prevents things getting knocked. also makes it easy to enclose)

A bigger build area than normal. Id like to go as big as possible, but it has to fit through a door, so that limits with to 800mm. Im using 10mm rod, so Im thinking about a build area of 400x400. I do realise im dreaming a bit there, so it will probably end up smaller.

Cheap as possible. As this is my first design I dont want to throw alot of money at it only to find out its crap. As many printed parts as possible. Ive decided on 608 bearings as they are cheap. The main this is im using 25mm ali square tube from Bunnings/Masters. Extrusion is too expensive here, plus shipping!

Will post some renders soon...

Still need to do some work on this bit. Will have to see what the Aluhotends are like first on the printer I have now. Not sure about the hotend mounting height. Could move them further up Also need to fit in a fan and z probe.

Good luck with the build!

I also built a derivative of one of these not long ago and am very happy with the print quality - it has completely replaced my prusa i3 now. I eventually ended up just going with the v-slot extrusions.

Well the corner peices flex a bit as expected. so will be adding cross braces later.. maybe just pop rivet bits of angle on.
