I have some older lenovo T60\T61 laptops that would make great second computers and 3d printer controllers. Wondering if there is any mutual deal that can be worked out for parts to build my first (prusa) 3d printer. I typicaly sell these laptops for $250 each.
(for price comparison sake)

I'm open to offers, suggestions, and of course your outright prices on parts smiling smiley

I have heard that Laptops make horrible CNC/3D printer computers because of the sleep feature..i dunno though.. to each there own

you can disable sleep and the power saving features on laptops, so it's not really a big problem.

Considering I'm using a old Netbook to run Two printers, I don't see how a bigger laptop wouldn't work as well or better.

But then I am using Linux, Don't know how well it works under Windows.
(Although I'm sure it's fine. ) smiling smiley

One note on the Netbook.

If either or both printers are doing lots of curves/detail, I have to set Pronterface for that printer to mini mode to alleviate the overhead of drawing the graphics.

Alternatively, I print from SD and Pronterface just monitors the printer output. smiling smiley

Interesting. I run my Prusa with a Lenovo X61T and have had no problems. Granted, I only run one printer and I also run an app called Process Tamer that I have set to automatically set all printing apps to run a high priority.
