Intention

Hi, is this group strictly for RepRap users only, or is it for builders, including RepStrap builders?
I am just starting to build the cartesian robot bit for a repstrap. I'm hoping to get to the printing bit, but that's a long way down the road from here....

Hi Hazel,
This forum is for anything related to RepRap in the UK. Certainly people building and using RepRaps or RepStraps.

Most of the other local forums arrange get togethers, but up until recently all the UK people were well spread out. We do seem to have a few around Manchester now though.

I think it's for anything reprap related that only applies to the UK :-) For example, meeting up, UK-specific shops, discussions that only apply to UK laws or problems.

Feel free to post as a builder (or hopefully later as a user!)

Excellent - then here I am! I'm in Stockport. I'm going to blog about my build-efforts - how can I link to it from the forum? Is there an appropriate place to put a link?

Do you know if there are any other girls on board? I've been bobbing around various boards for a while, but haven't seen any obvious girls' identities.

I'm based in Trowbridge, near Bath and Bristol.

You can include a link to your blog by just writing http : // myblog.blogspot.com/
e.g.

[renoirsrants.blogspot.com]

using the forum, you can add a 'signature' to the bottom of your posts:
[forums.reprap.org]
and in the 'forum settings' you can set it to always add your signature (containing your blog link)

There's also a list of builder's blogs - add yourself to the builders wiki page:
[objects.reprap.org]

People often post to the RepRappers section (http://forums.reprap.org/list.php?4) with a 'hi' post to announce blogs.

Blogging tips:
Don't be afraid to blog anything: most people are very nice and helpful in the comments
I use google sites (http://sites.google.com/site/renoirsrants/reprap) for some 'static' pages (like a real website) - free
I also use Picasa (google) to host images and upload photos from my digital camera - (http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/renoirdana) - also free

My partner is also a girl we are both memebers of the Linkedin reprap group.
We are not very active on RepRap at the moment due to home renovation work that should be finished in July fingers crossed. (was due June) ;-(
