problem with RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield 1.4

I have just build my RepRap machine using RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield 1.4 and ReplicatorG and sli3er s/w
I powered system on and got the following:
1. the "2004 display is ON with all characters in rows 1 & 3 are lighted.
2. I'm not able to connect the controller ( Arduino Mega).
and getting the following error massages:

The replicator single is not connected (at right top screen. even thogh i used the "connect" icon)

trying to load the frimware, getting the below error massage:

[16:51:13] No connection; trying to pulse RTS to reset device.
[16:51:18] Read timed out.
[16:51:18] Packet timed out!
[16:51:18] Unable to connect to firmware.

I'll appreciate anyboady's support

Hi.. what firmware are you trying to upload?
Whe you connect the mega2560, does it install drivers? if you go to the my computer --> devince manager, is the mega2560 showing at the COM port list?

Device manager recognize - Arduino Mega 2560 R3 (COM5)
Went back to your frimware question....changed to "MakerBoard v2.x (Gen4) with Mega 2560" and..viola it is connected.


still have error "packet timed out!".
and read out has still same problem.

I'll try to reconnect all connectors and motor drivers (I disassembled all due to the problem) and see whether problem still exists

Using RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield 1.4 with ReplicatorG & sli3er s/w

1. I use frimware "MakerBoard v2.x (Gen4) with Mega 2560" (no other option seems to work), - is it OK
2. On replicatorG rev 040, I assigned "Replicatore single" machine - is it OK.

Now to my problem:
a. although PC and controller are connected, get error "Packet timed out!" and the "2004 display" is ON with and
all characters in rows 1 & 3 are lighted at all time.

b. I use nozzle extruder with type "K" TC. and intend to build conditioning amp. using AD595. What extruder S/W "patch" do I have load.

Hmm im not familiar with the software or firmware ur using.. try to ask on the other forums.
it seems to me though that there is no connection between the pc and mega2560.. usually caused by their the com port on the slicer/replicatiorG isnt configured correctly, or the firmware configuration file isnt correct

Since the ReplicatorG is the very first S/W I grabbed. it might be that it is not fully compatible.
would you please recommend me of S/W might work from your experience?

Are you sure the firmware ur using is compatible with RAMPS?!
Also im not sure which LCD u got, but the generic LCDs out there are compatible with RAMPS + Merlin, im not sure which other configurations are good.

I suggest you look at the firmware compatability issue first.

Thesoftware im using is pronterface by kilment. My suggestion to you is using Merlin/SPrinter/Teacup with your ramps + pronterface.. although the software side (pronteface) shouldnt be the issue here. If you're using the LCD then go for Merlin as im not sure if other ramps firmware are compatible. Also i think you need merlin v4 + or v2+ for the LCD

I really appreciate your effort. It really helps.
I'm in final stages finishing my design/build of 3D printer. a beautiful machine with superior stages (got from salvage most parts)
with registration accuracy of 1um. I'm eager to operate it and feel like the only obstacle is the S/W.

Marlin supports RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield 1.4 with " 2004 display" (20 characters x 4 rows) I already downloaded it to my 2560 board.
As for the pornterface, i'll try to install it later.
