I have a functional frame for my Darwin, but I now have some pieces left over and I have no idea what they are. Someone tell me that they are useless before i have a catastrophic failure due to an a monkey's construction error.

About your polymorph issue with it being flat and all, I say that when the plastic is gooey and ready to be formed, press it between two metal plates. It shouldn't be that hard to find two pieces of metal that are flat/strong enough, and to press it you need only jump on the configuration. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
