Q: Proper use of Speed (Bridge flow vs bridge feed rate)

The help on SFACT's Speed tab is not helping much, so I need to ask:
If my "main feed rate" is 12mm/s and perimeter is 6mm/s

What If I wish to slow down bridge printing ?
"Bridge Feed rate ratio to perimeter feed" (default 1) should be set to something close or equal to the value of "bridge flow rate (scaler)" (default 1) ?

So If I set both to 0.7 - I'll get 70% of the 6mm/s speed - with properly scaled amount of extruded material ?
and If I only reduce "feed rate" - it'll only reduce the head speed, while extruding (too much) material ?
- not sure if I got his right smiling smiley

Looks like you got it right. What machine are you printing on that you are using such low speeds?

It's a larger version of Prusa Mendel, did not experiment yet with higher speeds, I need precision over speed. - and with higher speed, the extruded plastic is sometimes not as perfectly placed, as with lower speed.

woof! but 6mm/s! sad smiley

what would you suggest ? - current settings are 10 and 6mm/s (perimeter)

My normal print speed is 80mm/sec fill and 65mm/sec perimeter.
With travel speed of 195mm/sec.

Getting quality, accurate prints.

On a Prusa Mendel with Linear bearings.

If I go that fast, filament gets dragged from it's place on travel or circle, before bonding with the layer beneath.
what extruder/hotend do you use ?
(I too use bigger than normal prusa mendel, with linear bearings )

I use j-head 0.5mm and mendel-parts v5 0.35mm
both same speeds.
0.3 or lower layer heights

ok, so you use a 0.5mm nozzle, with 0,3mm layer ? - and extrusion width is then ~0.7? what's your measured extrusion width ?
If I reduced layer thickness, (using 0.4 now) that would most likely reduce the possibility of dragging filament in a shortcut across a circle.

Hello Richard,

Do you use Skeinforge to generate g code? if so, what is your actual Flow Rate settings for that speed?
Your bridge ratios are grater or lower than 1?

Thank you!!!!
