ABS quality comparison

I tried looking for a quality comparison or review of ABS filaments, but couldn't find any yet so I figure I should create a topic that lists experiences with them in a systematic way so others can guage the usefulness and easy for others to search. If I'm putting this in the wrong place I'd appreciate some direction.



So far this has been my experience with ABS filament, and when I say untested it means that I have the filament in my possesion just haven't tried it out yet.

=Makerbot=
>>1.75mm Black
Flexibility: Good consitant quality with higher flexibility with models 1/4 in thickness.
Odor: Low
Spindle: Makerbot standard
>>1.75mm Natural White
Flexibility: Good consitant quality with higher flexibility with models 1/4 in thickness.
Odor: Low
Spindle: Makerbot standard

=Alfina=
>>1.75mm Natural White (Value-Line)
Flexibility: Extremely brittle (causes jams in gears)
Odor: Medium
Spindle: 40.4mm
>>1.75mm Black (Premium)
Flexibility: untested
Odor: untested
Spindle: untested

=Chinese=
>>1.75mm Black
Flexibility: untested
Odor: untested
Spindle: 38.2mm

I like this idea! You have my vote to get this stickied. When I am not typing on a tablet I will add my findings which includes Ebay sellers and Makergear matts. We should do one for PLA as well. I could add there too but I think I will help on this one and se how well it is recieved. I am a firm believer that we should create a database of reviews so that our fellow reprappers can have a level of transparency to the purchase. I know it would have been nice on my first order to not have done it blind.

So I'll add to this:

- "Natrual" color ABS from the eBay seller in the Czech Republic
- Potentially contaminated filament which may or may not be usable. Contaminants like literally grains of fabric or sock fabric pills.
- Sampling filament revieals consistant diameter of 2.6mm - 2.8mm
- Extrusion temp: 228 - 235deg (232 for good lamination)
- Odor: low
- Flexibility: Excellent
- Strength: Excellent
- Warping: total rubbish (subjective)

Printer specifics:
- Printbot
- J-End .4mm nozzle
- 0.25mm layer height
- Wade extruder setup with hobbed bolt from Ultimaker
- TIGHTLY sprung counter bearing on filament
