Greg's Wade Reloaded and 1.75mm filament

Having done my research into the 3mm vs. 1.75mm debate, I've landed on the side of the latter--primarily due to my experience using it on a Makerbot Replicator at the office. With that said, I'm finalizing the printing of my MendelMax parts and I've got to do the extruder. Greg's Wade Reloaded looks about the best for my purposes, but by default it's set up for 3mm filament.

What do I need to do in order to get it working with 1.75mm filament? I edited the .scad file and changed filament_feed_hole_d to 2.2, as I saw in some comment somewhere, and also changed the hotend mount to jhead. Am I missing anything else, or am I good to send this to the Replicator?

I think you should be fine. I've read somewhere that you can even change an 3mm extruder to 1.75 simply by inserting a fitting brass tube (of course you would still need a 1.75 hotend).

But there should be a version of the accessible wade which includes a scad script which has a version for 1.75 already included, that's what I used when I changed away from the direct drive extruder on my Orca. That one works great for me, I will post the link here when I come home.

Thanks, Bantha. I ended up printing a 3mm version of the extruder, since I'd not heard anything on this thread, but I'm intrigued by your mention of using a 3mm extruder with 1.75mm filament...

The Lulzbot AO-100/101 uses Wades extruder and it can use both 3mm and 1.75mm

What method does it use to "switch" between them, if any?

From my experience, it isn't a good idea to print 1.75 with an 3mm extruder. It may work with PLA, other filaments will simply bend away. I know since I tried.

Here is a Gregs Wade modified for 1.75 mm filament and M3 sized nut holes in the base.
