You could reach 500°C in 10 sec, but then it would overshoot a lot.
I usually wait 60sec after it reached temp to let it settle down.

I don't think it is at all possible to reach 500C in 10 seconds, unless you are powered by uranium grinning smiley

... you'll need some more power and "thermal coupling", than with common heater setups -- but otherwise not really problematic to get even higher temps in shorter times.

Some of my "advanced heaters" draw up to some kW of power ... and the fastest (laser-based) are used to melt the tip of a 0,5mm thick metal wire in some milliseconds winking smiley

Victor, we are talking here about consumer 3D printers, not about lasers etc. I understand that bigger more powerful heaters exist lol. My heater is 20mmx6mm tube that works perfectly fine with stock Duet board without requiring extra MOS. Not talking about some oversized setups that are heavy. My printer does 300mm/s with perfect quality, because the whole carriage is extremely light.

... we're talking about DIY-heaters too - some years ago we've tested with different heating technologies and thermal isolation.

The simplest extruder heaters were made with enamelled wire, wound around a tube and thermal isolated with ceramic clay ...
