Salome Platform for 3D CAD

I see a number of inquiries for an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use 3D CAD solution for designing for 3D printing. I would suggest exploring the Salome platform. This uses a parametric approach and exports *.stl files ready to print. Originally developed for generating meshes for engineering analyses (FEA, CFD, etc.), it is a professional-quality application, and is Open Source. Originally developed for the Linux platform, it is available for Windows as well. Based on Python, it is easy to extend, for those who want to go that direction. Much, much easier to use than OpenSCAD, Blender, BrlCAD, FreeCAD and other 3D solutions I have tried (especially for those who may be new to the 3D CAD world).

Isn't FreeCAD based on Salome? Or have these two a common foundation?

About a year ago I tried with Salome and well, the CAD modeler exists, but I didn't find it to be exactly user friendly. IMHO, typical for applications focussed on making FEA meshes.
