Printing a threaded part

Has anyone ever tried printing a part or parts that screw together like a round container with a screw on lid?

Friend asked me if I could make something in a specific size to suit a camera that I could incorporate an O ring into to make waterproof for caving (Speleology) purposes

If you want to print something that is water resistant, you will need to consider to what degree. Water-proof is not possible in most cases, due to small gaps that exist between filaments. Under a few feet of water, the pressure will begin to deform the container. Even a printed sphere would not do well due to the stratification of layers.

As for mating threaded parts, bigger is better.
