Peter did not have the information needed for me to write a family-tree of the extruder-designs currently floating around.

So...since we have so many people joining this thread. Who is the first to come up with a printable lower part of a machine? It can be done horizontal (like cheap plastic machines) or vertical like conventional ones.
I've already taken apart enough cheap plastic machines capable of only one stich but very simple in design.
So I could probably make the mechanics to have the upper part move in sync.

Who would be interested in designing a VERY BASIC sewing machine with me?
(It´s not THAT hard. Only 2 parts that are somewhat complex in shape.
Synchronjisation of upper and lower part is trivial as simle one turn of the axis
is one cycle.)

I have a trivial sewing machine here that is mostly made out of plastic with
very simple mechanics.
If we can design the printable bobbin in some parametric modeller,
we can have a working sawing machine in no time. That would be a starting-
point, so specialized machines or even a toolhead for embroidery can be designed.

Marcus, sorry, if I got a little ranty and political there; I've snipped that stuff out of the thread and moved it because I figured it would get in the way of actual mechanical design, I hope that's ok. eye rolling smiley

Here's a good place to document the project:

You create a wiki-page for a project that does not exist yet with no proper categorisation and hardly any content.
Please update or remove it.
This project never started because no people where found to start it.

Has anyone created a github project for this? I am interested in all manner of reprappable home appliances, and specifically with sewing machine mechanics as they relate to potentially 'weaving' conductive thread during extrusion.

Why github?
Github is good for source-code but hardly the place for CAD.
Noone else uses github for 3d designs.
What makes you think that suddenly people willing to work on this will be found just because an empty project with no content and noone working on it is present on a platform that is not widely used for this kind of designs?

If you want to work on it, please go ahead.
