Tube connector for a asteroid-lamp etc thingy?

Hi.

So my foot went trough one of those spheric-china-paper-lamps, now I need a new lamp.

Off to the Geomertry-tag at thingiverse, where I began to think about asteroid-lamps.
I figured, the tubing to be used would be "electrical-conduit-wire-inside-wall", (first language english is not) as its cheap(€2 for 4meters) and stiff. Comes as 16mm and 20mm around these parts.

The fabric would be something like: "garden-fabric". But denser. Whatever its called, is also very cheap and two or three layers of that both give it a "solid look" and is still able to breath. Its more of a mood/guide-light really, not for old xy-watt lamps.

While looking for a means to calculate/figure out angles or even maybe "randomly" generate these connectors, it seemed to me this could be useful for a lot of things. A "cocoon-ish bed", various storage applications, to cover up stuff etc.

I have probably missed some openscad-script (which would probably really shine at this task) over at thingiverse.

What options do I have. (openscad seems to have a steep learning curve.)
Thanks in advance! smiling smiley
