Hey RepRap,

First of all, This community is totally awesome. Thank you for moving 3d printing forward. Forum posts may seem humble, but as far as Im concerned this right here is the equivalent of NASA in the 60's. You guys are moving humanity forward.

Question, for the design geniuses. How well do PLA parts work for mechanical components? I'm very interested in 3d printed robotics, and one of my favorite current examples is the RepRap. It's cool that it uses printed gears, but it still uses metal rods and bolts for various bearings. How effective have 100% PLA robots been? Can you link me examples? Thanks a lot.

... as long the parts won't get hotter than 45degC PLA is a perfect material for gears or structural parts winking smiley
