Customizable 3D Printers

Hey guys,
First-time poster here!
I'm toying with a new concept-- what would you guys think of a service that allows users to customize FDM printers based on their needs-- that way, they get their mostly-ideal machine without paying for anything they don't want to pay for. I've been looking for something of the sort but haven't managed to find anything.

Any thoughts?

tricky. most current designs do not scale up well.
Also everyone wants everything and for zero dollars.

what would you customize?

Build area is obvious but then what?
color, shape, smell?? These are all just marketing b/s

Type of hot-end: All metal/PTFE lined. Multiple extruders. Mixing nozzle. Genuine vs Chinese copy.
Heated bed.
Build surface.
LCD
SD card
8bit vs 32bit controller.
Integrated controller/driver vs Arduino/RAMPS separation.
Ethernet/WiFi/USB serial connection.
Firmware.
Microswitch/optical endstops.
12V/24V
1.75mm/3mm ???
Enclosure

For a Delta: Plastic or metal corners. Flying extruder. Remote extruder drive? Linear guides vs wheels?
