crazy idea: shake weight camera stabilizer?

I was looking at Johnny Chung Lee's $14 camera stablizer.

As absurd as it is, i think the shake weight might be useful in a camera stabilizer. perhaps mount the camera on one of the ends? i don't know how springy it is, i've never used one, but i'm sure we can design something to dampen any excessive bouncyness.

I'm envisioning a similar setup to johnny's, but with the shakeweight involved somewhere.

perhaps if someone has a shakeweight, and isn't embarresed to admit it, try taping/straping a camera to one end and do a quick experiment.

I don't know what you mean by "shakeweight" but the link shows a very basic steadycam.
So...you mean design something like this?

... "shakeweight" should be the same as "seismic mass" - used for damping effekts when carrying heavy parts on elastic beams (or moving freehand)

That sounds like something else then what Johnny Chung has build.
There is no elastic beam involved and the main part is a gimbal to isolate rotational movement from the operator to the camera.

Hi Marcus,

... the carrying person is the elastic damper.

The elasticity and autoadjusting of the carried mass with the arms is the basic effect.

PS: the online-SPAM-checker is really annoying confused smiley
