Ok, I have 2 Wades NEMA17 Extruder Full Sets up on ebay. Happy Bidding

Here are the 2 latest auctions as of 6/3/10

[cgi.ebay.com]

Here is more info on it.
[objects.reprap.org]

I made this for myself and a friend locally. I got some parts in bulk so they were cheaper and have extras.
I have the pieces for 5 of these and will print the RP parts if anyone is interested.

I have the M8 bolt with the hobbing in the middle, the M4 bolts and springs to go on them, and the bearings to put in. I used a .7mm pitch tap instead of the .5 that wade specified.
RP parts are included as shown in pictures.

Motor is not included, or the mounting bolts for it.

[edit: added link to ebay auction.

This looks cool! Does the cost include the RP parts, if not, how much would it be for the whole thing sans motor?

Sent you a PM too!

I LOVE hating on deals on this forum, but $30 for 1 hour worth of RP, a machined M8, 4 springs, 4 wing nuts, & 1 bearing... not bad at all really.

Your tha man.

I have machined 10 bolts too Wade, but none of them has the exact same diameter, which affects seriously the extruded filament length.
We have built the two bearings setup, like on this thingiverse:

But the bearings and the bolt has some play, so we could not create two bolts with the exact same diameter.

So Im a bit hesitant about this.

Is there any reason they need to be the exact same diameter? Just measure the diameter, and update your E steps/mm value accordingly.

Besides, I doubt it's possible to get repeatable results without a lathe, but the big advantage of this design is that you don't need a lathe. I don't even use those bearing blocks, I just use some skate bearings in a vice with a hand held drill.

Yes it is the only thing I don't like about pinch wheel drive. It is not easy to know what the actual diameter is. You can measure the crests of the thread but the plastic sinks in, so presumably it is the trough that counts, or perhaps somewhere between the two.

With screw drive you just use the thread pitch and everything is exact.

I have tried to machine in a CNC shop. So we had everything (lathe, cnc, etc).

Im also playing with the idea, of having different gears (different tooth number), and mark a number on the screw. Just we need a very precise measuring tool.

I bought this set and got it running on a test bench tonight. Wow this thing really pumps out plastic! I'm using it with:

Reifsnyderb's TB-HYBRID1 (3/16" groove) and N-RR2 (.5mm)
MakerGear's HeatCore and Modular Thermistor
MakerBot's extruder board (heater control only), stepper board, and Nema 17

I had to carve out the nozzle hole and motor holes and make some modifications to be compatible with the 3/16" groove. I hope to make the necessary electronics modifications to have it working on Isaac sometime this weekend.

I too had to carve out the motor holes and also the hole for the shaft/gear to go through to fit my motor - can't really complain about that... This is great deal. Thanks for selling more!
