Is this open source? Where is it documented? What firmware is it compatible with?

All docs will be later on reprap.org. We're working on it. All firmware. Some need tests. Now we have teacup modify 100% working.

Vato talk to Kliment in RepRap IRC, he might be able to help you get Sprinter working on your electronics. Sprinter is the new "officialish" firmware

We also offer Heated Bed with NTC and connectors( To our Gen X ).
Includes:
- Heated PCB.
- smd NTC ( [ru.mouser.com] )
- LED with resistor.
- Connectors ( MF-2x2 [img.mobicon.ru] For heat. And WK-3 [img.mobicon.ru] For NTC )

Price 50$.
In this version, a thermistor can be placed on the bottom side of the center board. This enables accurate measurement of temperature. Or with the edge of the board on the top side.

Just saw your last video of the GenX today [www.youtube.com]
I don't remember to have seen a Prusa with a vertical x-axis before (except in the eMaker Huxley), and I like this (in fact I wanted to make the same x-ends and a similar x-carriage^^)

And just wondering if can we find yours on thingiverse or somewhere on the wiki ? smiling smiley
(oh and I must add it to the reprap-family-tree next time)

I love the vertical X axis idea. Does that have any impact on the build volume?

The vertical carriage seems to be as high as the x-ends, so the upper limit is probably the same, maybe we can even gain a little space in this configuration smiling smiley

Hi Vato, your version of the Prusa looks very interesting, especially things like the vertical x-axis, combined extruder and x-carriage, z-axis pulley, and your printed z-carriage. I hope you will share your development with the rest of us soon!
I had a look through your site using google translate: [translate.google.co.uk]
I hope you don't mind me posting this picture from your blog here:

Thank you for your interest in our developments. When we developed our design, we have not heard about eMaker Huxley. There may be more?
Build volume of our GenX is 200x200x150. We have a version for standart bushes and for LM8UU. Models will be posted later. I would like to ask when you use our ideas to refer to the original. Stay tuned for news and updates on our website and blog design is in full swing!

Hi Vato, are you going to post the models of your design soon? I understand you want to capitalise on your work, but it is the nature of the open source community that you take something, improve upon it, and share it back with the community! Then people can take your designs, and improve them again - like your X-carriage, it could be changed so it uses a direct drive extruder, so it would be narrower.
There are plenty of examples of repstraps with vertical X-axis rods, I made this one [www.thingiverse.com], it's just when Mendel was designed they went with a horizontal arrangement. Most CNC machines use vertical X-axis rods.
Here's mine, it works well despite being made of wood! LM8UU bearings, too.

I like the vertical x axis arrangement too. In fact I think we really need a standard rod spacing for the vertical x axis variants. There are a few of them around now including yours, mixtape mendel, emaker huxley, 1x2, and an x-carriage-only design on thingiverse. I'm thinking of doing vertical x axes on the test tube mendel too. That being said, I think now is a good time to hash out a smooth rod spacing that could be a standard for vertical x axis designs. That way it would be easier to design an extruder to fit most if not all vertical variants. Here is the topic I started in the development forum.

[forums.reprap.org] .

Would you please post the smooth rod spacing (center to center, inside edge to inside edge, or however you prefer to measure it) for your x axis, and maybe a comment or two about design constraints? I'm hoping we can get everyone to agree on a spacing that will work for most of the designs and create a standard. I'm thinking something between 5 and 6 cm center to center should work.

Thanks
Bryan
