Cheapest method to get 100kg ABS inside EU

Hi!

Im planning to invest into some plastic. So I want to buy 100kg of 3mm ABS, do somebody know some really cheap options?

I have read in this forum some time back, that someone from italy wanted to buy 100kg of ABS, but I cant find the post anymore.

I know one option:
100*40GBP from bitsfrom bytes (4000 GBP), its out of my pocket:-(

You can buy it at Makerbot for 1340 GBP, which is just a third.
Flight would add another 300 GBP or so, and you'll probably have
to pay some extra charge for overweight luggage and customs, but
you'll still come out ahead.

Alternative is to have Makerbot ship it via UPS (split in two packages)
or DHL for about 800-1200 GBP. Even though cost almost doubles, it would still be far cheaper to get it from the US compared to BfB.

Just curious: why would you need THAT much plastic? This would be
months (or years?) of continuous printing...

There was a chinese option, which was about 200$ for 100kg + shipping (700$?)

From RepRapSource you can get 20 x 5 Kg x 98.50 €/Kg = 1,978 €

Anyone wanting ABS 3mm extruded supplies we can provide the support by direct air shipment to your destination.
What we want is a minimum of 100 kgs shipped. we can provide the same in continuous coil form of 5 kgs or 10 kgs as the need may be.

Just make sure that the tolerances are at max 3.0mm +0.05mm -0.1mm before ordering big. I had oval filament, and believe me its not worth the trouble. The extruder gets unreliable and unprecise. [blog.arcol.hu] had the same issues.

I have never managed to buy such close tolerance filament. Most "3mm" filament from the US seems to be 2.85mm for some reason.

Oval is a pain though because you need a larger than optimal extruder bore and it gives slightly inconsistent feed rates with a threaded pulley pinch wheel. Not a big effect but I got a noticeably increase in quality when switching to round.
