@waitaki this is the only version I have used. And given how well it works otherwise (and this is what Airwolf3D recommends), I haven't looked at using a different version of Slic3r. The main point of my reply is to help the software authors see this is a real problem and perhaps effort can go into fixing it. @tmorris9 Yes, adding my own support in the CAD file was what I did and it worked; alloby unexpectedly - Slic3r
I'm having same problems. I am printing a "plate" and embedded into the bottom is a 6201 bearing. On the top is a special feature for a part to fit in. On the first two of the three kinds of plates, it would string but I could cut out enough of the strings to make the plate serviceable. On this 3rd plate, the area above the bearing doesn't have enough thickness for the print to complete properly.by unexpectedly - Slic3r
I built this rapman for my business. It works... but. It really needs the "Z axis wobble" fixed. I printed out a bunch of chyllds parts to do it. But I can't bring myself to take it apart. I'd rather start over with a delta. One part ever has broken, the z-axis drive sprocket on the stepper. I made a new one out of ABS that's been fine. The US vendor helped with my issues a bit and sent me a newby unexpectedly - For Sale

@BodgeIt : I didn't source the parts ... I got a jump-start with my printer from another forum member. The part is a section of a small fuel tank I am prototyping. There are 4 large pieces like that one, 1 mid-size piece, and 3 small parts. Once glued together, will be something we can try to fit as proof of the drawing's concept. I used a CMM arm to scan the original part as well as the surrouby unexpectedly - General
@subline : Thanks for your help. This is a setting I wasn't yet aware of... Once I'm done with the project I'm printing at the moment, I'll work on the settings so I have things set up properly. And also share this info with the guy helping me so he'll know where we both went wrong. Thanks! Chrisby unexpectedly - Skeinforge
It finished the print!!! I am so happy! I was believing this wasn't going to be possible. Unticking the "Turn off" option in the device manager did it! (see my attached pic in above post) The power saving features I had to disable: - from screen saver, click on power settings and be sure that your profile never turns off the monitor or hard disks. - (I also told it to never go to screen saver,by unexpectedly - General

I have a reprap prusa mendel with wade extruder ... fairly wide nozzle and I'm extruding 3mm translucent pla. It seemed every one else's settings didn't put out enough material and the parts looked horrible. This might be too much, but it's a start anyhow!by unexpectedly - Skeinforge
Hi Raj, if you like, I can send you a zip file with gcodes I just made via skeinforge... 20mm cube with 2mm walls. I'm extruding 3mm PLA. I was very happy with the result of these skeinforge settings. Best, Chrisby unexpectedly - RepRap Host
I know this is a year past, however I'm doing exactly this right now and thought I'd contribute a cent or two... QuoteHarald 2. replace the J3D files (jars and .so) in the rerap directory with the ones from the j3d-1_5_2-linux-amd64.zip from Btw, this zip file unzips and has yet another zip file in it. Unzip that one, then take the .so and .jar's from this doubly-zipped archive and put in your rby unexpectedly - RepRap Host
Mounted my spool on bearings and got the print restarted around 8pm last night. Came in to work and it had frozen again. Same fault. This time 6 hours had passed. This is getting bad. Now going to try ubuntu to see if that makes a difference.by unexpectedly - General
It got all the way through the print, but the extruder couldn't pull the PLA off the spool so I get to do more R&D on my setup...by unexpectedly - General
Those wires will work... the "not rated for mains" means don't run 115/240VAC household power through them. That's probably more to do with liability than electrical engineering. FWIW, another data point: I double checked the power settings on my laptop... the printer paused when the power settings dialog box opened. Only for a second at most... and then when I switched the "Turn off monitor" fby unexpectedly - General
Hmmmm, yours is some of the best data I have seen yet. In my case of the 2 am stoppage, no one was at work and all the lights were off. I'm not beyond putting the ramps into a metal enclosure. If the failure happens again, I probably will do just that... I've got an o'scope somewhere, too. I can see how the 12VDC looks going in to the card as well as what's riding on my conduit. It happened again at 2am... 5 hours into the part I'm trying now. So I reworked my printing area. It's a plastic cart... I moved all the AC power cords to the bottom shelf, bent up 1/2" rigid conduit for the USB cable to my laptop. The ATX power supply is still on the top shelf 2" away from the RAMPS board. And I ran a grounding strap from the conduit to the case of the power supply. The usb cabby unexpectedly - General

So far so good... just finished that print without issues. I did see some comm errors with request for resends... but it got through the part. Now I've started on the next one. RepSnapper said it was 44:04 (yes 44 hours) to print... and now it says 46 hours. So, we'll see how this goes!by unexpectedly - General

For those looking to get small production runs, check out protolabs.com. I've used them before. Amazing array of materials available, too. I like to use them as proof before sending a new drawing for production at a CNC shop. Chrisby unexpectedly - General
Hmmm, I recall there wasn't an error file in the repsnapper directory. Will check again tomorrow when I get back to work. I'll also try to learn more about the RAMPS firmware I have... Thanks! -Chrisby unexpectedly - General
Well, it did it to me again. I'm going to need a solution for this... otherwise the whole point of having a reprap is null and void... Hmph... mine has done this twice on me. Both times when I'm not watching... 1st time was on a 25mm cube. I had been printing continuously all day... 2nd time was during a 3 hour print. I came back to it half done and a giant blob of PLA under the head. No signs of problems, heater still on.
