To All, I'm still trying to finish up my printer and I remembered that I have some parts that were never shown as part of any diagram for assembly I could find. Unfortunately, I bought my printer from Botmill, so there's no more help I can get from those lying S.O.B.'s. Accordingly, I was wondering if anyone could identify these "extra" parts for me, since I can't seem to figure out what they aby MrBlack - General
To all who think it's belt tensioning: Is there a good way to determine whether or not I have correct belt tension?by MrBlack - General
@NewPerfection: I know I can move at least the Y when the motors are on but not moving. I haven't tried the X, but I'll update tomorrow when I start testing again. @Mkouri: that is correct, it appears that most of my infill not touching the perimeter is on my Y axis, although there is some space on the X as well. Hm. Intriguing. I'll test whether my nozzle is clogged and up the heat tomorrow toby MrBlack - General
Alright, I ran 3 tests from your recommendations: All had the heat at 195 (up from 185) All had the perimeter and small perimeter speeds at 30 (down from 55) Test 1 () Had ONLY those settings modified. Test 2 () Additionally, I modified the infill speed and solid infill speed to 45 (down from 60 on both) Test 3 () Had the modified infill/solid infill speeds down to 45 from test 2 AND Fill Denby MrBlack - General
Yeah, sorry. I dropped the ball on the firmware question. I'm running some older version of Marlin (I forget which version) because it's what would run on my Gen 6 electronics that I've got. I'll be back with photos of the test as you described in a little bit.by MrBlack - General
Whoops. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the firmware question. Umm. I'm pretty sure I'm running a version of Marlin for firmware.by MrBlack - General
1.) Tell us a little more about the plastic (is it PLA or ABS) and your Slic3r settings. PLA, 3mm, natural color (no pigment.) 2.)What indicated temperature are you printing at? I have Slic3r set for 185, and I preheat it through Pronterface manually every time I go to print. 3.) Do you have a thermocouple on a multimeter that confirmed your indicated temperate is close to what you are reallyby MrBlack - General
Dear Community, I'm almost finished with this printer I've been working on for about 11 months, but I'm having a problem. I simply can't get my prints to come out correct or symmetrical, even though I've used a nickel calibration test to get just about as correct of calibration as I can. I'm hoping that you have some suggestions: Here are some pictures of the problem: Here's the Nickel calibrby MrBlack - General
If a delete the M109 at the beginning of my Gcodes, is that enough to stop it from waiting, even if I keep a set temp in slic3r settings?by MrBlack - Slic3r
To all fellow printers, I'm trying to get Slic3r to run correctly for me to use with my Mendel, and I'm somewhat irritated that it uses that 30 seconds of waiting for the heat to be correct, even though I manually pre-heat through Pronterface. Is there a good way to get rid of the pre-heating timer in the settings, or what would you recommend to get rid of it? Thanks, in advance. Sincerely,by MrBlack - Slic3r
Dear Community, I'm running Printrun (Pronterface) with modified firmware on a Mendel that I'm almost done with. Before, when I was running Repsnapper, it recognized the opto-endstops and behaved accordingly. But now that I've updated the firmware on my Gen 6 electronics to Marlin V 1.0.0Rc1 it no longer recognizes that there are endstops, even though they were working before and I did not mby MrBlack - General

Okay. Let me see if I've got it straight. 1.) Arduino: I need Arduino to be able to reprogram the firmware on the printer. 2.) Slic3r: to replace Skeinforge for generating the GCode. 3.) Pronterface: to replace Repsnapper for controlling the printer. 4.) Marlin: for making the printer run smoothly? Would that be a correct list of all the things I'd need?by MrBlack - General Mendel Topics
Sounds good. I'm trying not to get discouraged. . . But I guess I thought I was past the stage of wanting to throw the thing out a window after I got all the assembly done, motors finished (two of which we had to re-wire because they ran backwards), things jigged, etc. *Sigh.* Does anyone have links for Marlin and maybe a guide to changing the firmware on the printer? @Mkouri. It's good to have someone to sympathize with. I know all the frustrations Botmill has to offer customers. I didn't even get my printer or anything other than "sorry, we'll send it soon" as communication for almost 4 months. Between missing parts (no extruder, etc.), shoddy communication, and broken contractual obligations, I've had easily the worst customer experience of my life just trby MrBlack - General Mendel Topics
Update: I decreased the temp to 180 like you said. The plastic is still liquid-y, so I assume that must mean it IS PLA. Second, I put down tape, but it's a moot point so far, because I don't think the extruder is running fast enough. When I press "Run Extruder" it still will run out a nice stream of liquid plastic, but when it's actually trying to print something, the stream just doesn't come oby MrBlack - General Mendel Topics
@MKouri. What temp would you suggest?by MrBlack - General Mendel Topics
Alright. After almost a year of hell trying to deal with Botmill, I've finally got my Mendel almost functioning. The X, Y, and Z axes run fine. When I hit the "run extruder" button in Repsnapper a stream of liquid plastic comes out. Etc. HOWEVER, when I actually try to print a part, the plastic doesn't seem to come out fast enough to actually make anything. It just sort of trails down then getby MrBlack - General Mendel Topics
Greetings all, About six months ago I bought an Axis 2.1 printer from Botmill (I know now how crappy a company they are to work with, believe me) and I'm trying to get this thing running. The exact design is apparently a "Sells" Mendel, and its page on Botmill's site is here: (http://botmill.com/index.php/axiskit-106.html) I've got everything assembled and all appears to be functional EXCEPT:by MrBlack - Reprappers
