Hey All, I'm trying to get ABS printing nicely on the Hackspace Mendel90, but am having layer adhesion problems. I'm printing soap moulds: But the outer layers are delaminating and the corners are lifting massively. I'm using slic3r at 50mm/s for everything, temperatures 230/115. Oddly, the inner surface (the actual mould) is fine, I dont get any cracking on it at all, so I'm guessing the cby parag0n - Manchester RepRap User Group
Hi Steve, I'm based over in Manchester, I can print out a set on my Hackspace's Mendelmax and donate to you if you cant find anyone with a second hand set. -Bobby parag0n - General

I personally use 1:10 diluted PVA:Water. I dab it on with a bit of kitchen roll, and keep dabbing while the bed heats to ~60 to give an even coat. Works fantastically, I can get about 20-30 prints out of each treatment. Parts pop off the bed once you let it fall below 40, or you can tap the side of them with a metal ruler flat against the bed.by parag0n - Mendel90
Really nice issue, super impressed. +1 on the idea of an A5 edition, for those of us with 7" tablets and kindlesby parag0n - General
Hackspace Manchester, in association with 3DPUG Manchester, is holding a RepRap build weekend on the 16th and 17th of March 2013. This weekend offers the rare opportunity to build a Mendel90 RepRap under the guidance of its creator, Chris Palmer (nophead). There are 6 places available for people or groups of up to 3 people to build and configure their own 3D printer. Picture courtesy of Alzibby parag0n - General

We've all noticed how slow the forums, wiki etc have been the last few months. Who is the site hosted with? How much would it cost to bump up the hosting to the next package / server size? I'm sure people in the community and the companies that make up the reprap ecosystem would be happy to chip in towards the hosting costs to get everything back to full speed! I think you are misreading people's tone (a thing that can be difficult over the internet). The community in general is very much more: "Hey, any chance i could have the source file so i can tweak your model slightly to make it perfect for me" than: "RAAAARGH HOW DARE YOU NOT GIVE ME YOUR SOURCE FILES, CURSE YOU 1,000,000 TIMES YOU BASTARD"by parag0n - General

Hi Ron, There is a big NCP car park nearby, but it can be expensive. There are lots of single yellows at the far side of swan street, where you can park in the evening for free I think. Sorry i cant be more helpful, i normally get the bus in. Ta, Bobby parag0n - United Kingdom RepRap User Group
Hey All, Its a couple of weeks until our next 3dpug meeting, where we'll have two talks on the software toolchains surrounding 3d printing, and of course our regular 3d printing chatter. [3dpug.co.uk] -Bobby parag0n - United Kingdom RepRap User Group
3DPUG is a 3d printer usergroup in manchester. We are mainly reprap focused, but also let in ultimaker and makerbot owners [3dpug.co.uk] for more informationby parag0n - Request a Local RepRap User Group

Hello All, This is an announcement for the first meeting of Manchester's 3D Printing UserGroup, a group for 3d printing hobbists and enthusiasts who own, or are looking to build a home 3d printer. Our first meeting will be on Monday the 9th of July at MadLab (36-40 Edge Steet, Manchester, M4 1HN). It starts at 7.00pm, and is expected to last for a couple of hours, after which we’ll adjourn toby parag0n - United Kingdom RepRap User Group
Two things to try: 1. Switch the pololus in your X and Z axis and see if you can now move Z. If so, the pololu is broken! 2. Maybe your endstop on the Z axis is misconfigured, try interrupting the beam (for optos) or pressing the switch (for mechanical) and see if you can move the Z axis. If it moves, your endstops need inverting. You can switch the invert endstops define in your firmware's cby parag0n - Sanguino(lolu)
Another option is to attach a solid state relay to the regular heated bed output, and have the SSR switching your heated bed. This still allows you to PWM the output, but lets you use currents up to 25A+ may be a good option.by parag0n - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
as long as you sell it in either unassembled (kit) or on a special assembled to order basis you can avoid CE certification.by parag0n - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
because of the layered approach reprap takes to building parts, you'll often find they can be absorbant to liquids. Tf you dipped a reprapped part into acetone, it'd most likely absorb the acetone, then melt from the inside out.by parag0n - Reprappers

if you have another pololu driver on your board, i'd try switching it with the broken one, that way you can find out if its your motherboard or the pololu itself thats broken.by parag0n - Controllers
Would anyone be interested in a manchester reprap users meetup? I know we have a few reprappers locally, it'd be great to meet up for a pint and a natter! Thinking sometime in mid-January would be good. Bobby parag0n - United Kingdom RepRap User Group
Looks like you'll need both the molex and the ATX connector plugged in to make this work, as pin 10 (+12v) of the ATX connector isnt connected to anything.by parag0n - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
At this point we may as well just put the standard ft232 header on the board and let the user plug whatever they want into it?by parag0n - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
The attiny45 version of v-usb would work nicely as a usb-serial, as long as we dont need a higher baud than 4800bps. 8 pin micro, 5 resistors, led, capacitor. All breadboardable too.by parag0n - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
Is it an old power supply? If so, the added current draw (maybe even a massive current draw if you have a short somewhere) could have been effecting the output voltage fairly heavily.by parag0n - Controllers
I dont have gEDA here to check, but afaik its a 4-pin 5.08mm pitch connector, specced up to 10A per pin.by parag0n - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
Is there any chance we could look again at adding a PC molex-type connector? From looking at the board design, It seems that if the 5v line was extended a bit, one could easily fit in the top-left of the board, and provide +12v, gnd and +5v. This would allow people the choice of using screw terminals or just plugging in a PC power supply. I've attached a photo of the type of connector i was tby parag0n - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
