bah. so my prusa with sangiunololu is assembled and conecting to pronterface, and the last few days testing the xyz have gone mostly well (it seems to not move the entire length and the software stops it from moving, I don't get it) but as of today when I turn on the machine, the hotend also begins heating. in pronterface the hotend is off int he drop down and I click the off button. maybe I'm too jaded but this just seems like an R&D project for makerbot seeing as they're one of the main sponsers. but hey, can't hurt I guess right? I'd be curious to see what the fine print is on design submissions and what happens to them whether or not they win. perhaps that's a good way to snuff as these small startups competiting in their space. offer up some award money, own the desby fyrebug - General
amazing. as I said on thingiverse I'm very curious to see how this shapes up over extended use but not needing to buy belts is awesome. even if it wears down I'd rather print a new tooth bed than buy belts. for $16 you can print quite a few tooth beds and melt down the old abs into a rubber mold for re-use. sorry if this is the wrong section, I don't see a dedicated sanguinololu sub section. I've got a freshly minted prusa mendel with a sanguinololu 1.3a running sprinter (as it has a 644p) I can make things move with pronterface so I know the board is ok, problem is with repG I get no response. it just timesout. as I'm moving from a cupcake I'd prefer to still be able to have a 3d preview of the mby fyrebug - General
nophead, sorry another question. which did you find works better? the ptfe for slip or simply reaming out the metal hole? it seems like reaming it might not work as well, but would hold up longer. I've never had a ptfe inner sleeve wear out, but I imagine it could over time. at the end of the day it just seems like one less part which is nice, so if it works I'd love to go that route..by fyrebug - Plastic Extruder Working Group

I see some hot ends have inner ptfe sleeves/tubes, others don't. for instance makerbot uses it on their mk5,6 I'm just curious what the purpose is. wouldn't a sleeve block some of the heat from reaching the filliment and hurt it from melting? is it an attempt to stop the heat from traveling up the tube? becuase the metal outer tube would tranfer heat upwards anyways no? it just seems like one moby fyrebug - Plastic Extruder Working Group
