Ah right, I assumed there would be a setting in slicer. It must acknowledge the bridges to have bridge flow ratio? If true then would it not be easy to make code for fan on fan off for these sections of code?by dave584 - General
Is there a way to enable fan for bridging? Does not seem to be a setting for it in slicer. Only fan % for bridgingby dave584 - General
Thanks for the info uGen. I have not used blender and its free, will be giving it a go.by dave584 - General
Quotedissidence i always though infill should be more like bone, the more dense the closer to the outside you get. I agree that could be a good option. Also support material is very wasteful as its only there to provide a structure for overhang to sit on. you could have a very sparce structure and a few layers before getting to your model the support could begin a bridge with a tighter pattern aby dave584 - General
I am sure it has been discussed before but I am not getting hits. Anyone have any suggestions for printing with different amounts of infill in a print. One way I thought of which would get you a bit more flexibility by sectioning off larger areas of infill in cad in such a way that they would be sliced as solid because of their size. This however would only give you solid and your given sliced iby dave584 - General
For others reference, the problem I had with longer prints turned out to be because power options on my laptop, a setting called USB selective suspend. Must be disabled or it causes the host to crash after a while printing.by dave584 - General
I was trying to print with fill density set to 1 which seems like it would not cause a problem but if set with honeycomb infill, which is default you get this error. I guess when you think about it it makes sense that you cannot do honeycomb on 1 infill but it would be less problematic if it just worked as rectilinear infillby dave584 - General
currently I cannot manage to slice any prints, repetier host message: "I could not find the generated G-code file possible reasons: -the slicer had an error and didn't finish slicing. Thanks for the responce. Your right that the issue was related I had changed lift. I still have a problem with the part I am trying to print though. Screenshot shows part of model seems to be missing, it should be a tube but after slicing there are 2 parts of the tube missing for some reason. I have used shell command in autocad to get the tube to 1mm (2 walls thick) I had to do it this way rathby dave584 - General
In repetier host when I click configure slic3r I get error "I was unable to load the selected config file. When changing pins.h would the physical pin PD6 equate to putting in pin 6 in the firmware? How else would it work?by dave584 - General
Thank you Traumflug, I am using repetier firmware. I will pick PD6 pin. Is this the line in the firmware I must change? Also what should it be changed to? #define FAN_PINby dave584 - General
I am a little stuck with connecting a fan to electronics board. I have sevenswitch module which can be used to control heaters and fans ect. I need to find the expension board pins. Perhaps the answer I need lies in the pinout but I don't know how to get information from it.by dave584 - General
thanks for posting btw Please explain what is the purpose of cooling the hot end?by dave584 - General
Has anyone tried this chinese supplier and can verify their product? Or perhap can recommend another cheap supplier? Looking to buy a few spools 3-5 depending on the cheapest way to do it, shipping ect. I am located in UKby dave584 - General
Thanks a lot for your help, that seems to have fixed the problem. At some point I changed the default extrusion thickness to 0 because it says in slicer to set for 0 for default. a bit of a trick.by dave584 - General
Sure, thanks for helping. The first part is the print file, the second part is fillament file and last part is printer file. # generated by Slic3r 0.9.9-dev on Tue Apr 16 11:38:55 2013 avoid_crossing_perimeters = 0 bottom_solid_layers = 0 bridge_acceleration = 0 bridge_flow_ratio = 1 bridge_speed = 60 brim_width = 0 complete_objects = 0 default_acceleration = 0 external_perimeter_speed = 100% eby dave584 - General
Still no closer to working this one out. I can print perfectly untill it comes to adding wall thickness in the stl? What can be the problem here?by dave584 - General
hi mate, no thats not it, I am aware of that problem, must be something else that is causing it. So when others print an stl with a given wall thickness rather than a solid stl and no infill they get perfect results?by dave584 - General
hi lotw, yes I have calibrated esteps to extrude 50mm in feed when pressing extrude 50mm. Done exactly. However I had to adjust nozzle size lower to get the correct wall thickness. Is this the wrong way to do it then? My 0.5mm j head produces about 0.6 extruded fillament in air and the single wall thickness was coming out too thick.. I also had to adjust the extrusion multiplier Here are the rby dave584 - General
Hey, Having a problem printing a 40mm fan mount that I am making in autocad. The thing is when I print a solid object and select the amount of layers (vertical shells) in slicer that works fine but what if you want to alter the thickness for different parts within the STL it seems to give me issues in the example here I made the wall thickness of the hollow cylinder 1mm and for some reason it sby dave584 - General
Hi Repetier, You were spot on yes it must be that the z feedrate was being too fast it must have stalled it completely without it even atempting to move. Now I can finally alter the eeprom..wonderful, been having a problem with that for a while. To recap the thread I have defined eeprom mode '1' in configuration.h saved and uploaded. sent M205 in host then you can find and edit the eeprom in tby dave584 - Repetier
Thanks, with define eeprom to 1 now I get info with M205. Have managed to get it to do different speeds now. Not having much luck with higher speeds it was skipping steps. Now the problem I have is its printing all layers onto the first layer, it does not move up Z. Z is working fine it homes ect just for the print it forgets to move Z. I have checked the g code it has X, Y and E but not Z? Anyby dave584 - Repetier
I am having difficulty altering print speed. I have set max speed in firmware but when I try to alter print speeds in slicer settings its does not make a difference. How else can I change the speed if this does not work? I am having trouble bringing up the eeprom values with the M205 command. Nothing happens in host when I enter it in the g code window?by dave584 - Repetier
It seemed like I had tried every combination of connections possible I think I may have made a silly mistake though, I had thought the middle connection on the switch was the common when it was not, whoops. Silly mistakes you do when you are trying something for the first time. thanks again michael. I connected the switch to C and NO and it worked. Its really starting to seem like a piece of eqby dave584 - General
hi mcp, this does not seem to be working for me I have tried all sorts of combinations of options. I am making epromm number larger each upload so I think revisions should take to eeprom. So.. I am connecting to ground so I need a pull up. What is this pull up? where it says '// Set the values true where you have a hardware endstop. The Pin numbe ris taken from pins.h.' I don't see the point inby dave584 - General
Any ideas how to connect mechanical endstops on a gen7 board? There are 3 connectors on the switch C(closed), NC(normally closed), NO(normally open). Perhaps this is correct.. should I connect NO to ground pin and C to signal pin? If I can at least know I have it connected right then I can know if its the firmware or wiring is misconfigured.by dave584 - General
eeprom is making little sense to me, when I set eeprom to '0' and try to alter #define HOMING_FEEDRATE_Z it does not take the change only when I have it set to eeprom 1. When I set it to 1 then some changes for example #define XAXIS_STEPS_PER_MM then goes wrong. So with eeprom set to 0, I have correct steps per mm but incorrect feedrate. I just want to use the configuration.h as normal but it sby dave584 - General
Unfortunatly I am not sure what it was that was wrong I guess I altered a couple of settings in the firmware or perhaps the firmware loaded right this time I really don't know. I really thought it was a bit of a deadend so you know I didn't take much care to think about any changes I had made. May have been eeprom setting which I don't really understand well. I can now heat extruder ok now too.by dave584 - General
I thought extruder won't move if heat is not at temp? In repetier host now extruder moves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yesss lol. Really thought I would never see those cogs turn, relief. Hovever I have not got the extruder to heat up yet though. Is the firmware suposed to work right away? Seems like a very hard time to set up unless you are a programmer or something.by dave584 - General
