@pointedstick - plz email me your name so that I can see what you have. Rickby makergear - General
Unless you were fastening a barrel with 2mm bore to one of the older style nozzles, a 1/4 turn works perfectly. I've done many, many times. The best place for support, though, is the MakerGear IRC channel Rickby makergear - Reprappers
just tighten the two nuts together (jam nuts) and turn the outer nut to tighten the barrel into the nozzle (please follow the instructions exactly)....i do it all the time.by makergear - Reprappers
I contacted a reprapper in Europe with some extras and he'll send you one. Will send details via email. Rickby makergear - Reprappers

@arhimed so, like the front page of our website and our Flickr site don't count? The GrooveMount DXF files have been available on the MakerGear Google Group for a LONG time. Unfortunately, Google recently removed the Files section. Now, some of that stuff needs to be reposted. However, if you search for DXF in the google group you can still find many of the DXF files as attachments.by makergear - General
1) Do you mean a different grade of PEEK? 2) I made that in Sept., only 1.75mm ABS was available at the time.by makergear - General
That is solid PEEK, no liner. So, if you want to use it with PLA, you'll need to actively cool the PEEK. The issue with PEEK and PLA is not friction, it is heat. PLA softens at a lower than ABS and gets sticky. As long as the PEEK temp remains low enough it will work with ABS and PEEK. Temp gets too high it won't work with either...by makergear - General
These are some examples (from back in the day) of what PTFE looks like when it fails. However, if you get PTFE just right, you can get hundreds of hours out of it...there is just very little margin for error...by makergear - General
@johnnfullerroot these are a few months old but they were all printed with a 0.35mm nozzle.by makergear - General
@HereinCS Are you thinking about something like this. Something along those lines should work for 1.75mm ABS. IIRC it uses an M4 barrel.by makergear - General
In terms of PEEK, my experience could not be more different than yours. We've been using PEEK for 18 months, have more than 500 hot-ends in the field and we've tested it in-house. Here is a testing rig where early variations of the current GrooveMount were tested at operating temps well above normal for weeks at a time with 10-20 lbs hanging from the nozzle throughout the testing (see the wire coby makergear - General
@jgilmore use what you want...it does not change the FACT that PEEK is extremely reliable and field proven. Sorry...just that PTFE and PEEK are very different materials and should not be used in that context. Rickby makergear - General
@Rooski We've got well over 500 hot ends in the field. If you have questions, please stop by the MakerGear IRC channel (irc://freenode/makergearv2). I hang out there and you can discuss products with MakerGear customers. @Anthong Redbeard "I recommend AGAINST buying anything that relies on PEEK threads for structural integrity." <- total nonsense. Actually, what Brian sold were - BigHead style nozzles similar to what is sold by MakerGear LLC. Perhaps a little history would help. About a year ago nozzle demand exceeded my ability to design, test, support and manufacture them in-house. I decided to have them manufactured externally and thought, you know, I'll keep this work in the community and asked Brian R. to make some nozzles, for me, tby makergear - General
"if you use a two part nozzle like the big head nozzle" <- close enough (link added)by makergear - General
@rhmorrison those parts are not from us.by makergear - General
@RHMorrission Extensive and long-term use of PLA. Like I said we have many hundreds of hot-ends in the field that are doing just fine.by makergear - General
@rhmorrison I don't know whose parts you were using but your sweeping claim of "if you use a two part nozzle like the big head nozzle you will eventually get blobs on your object" is nonsense. BigHead nozzles are one of our products and we have many hundreds of hot-ends in the field that are doing just fine and have been for a long time... Rickby makergear - General
Sorry about your misfortune. Given your diagrams and reference to the larger nozzle, removable brass peice, etc., I think that some people may interpret them to mean you're having problems with MakerGear parts (even though you did not mention a source). I just want it to be clear that you are not using MakerGear parts. It's unfortunate that time after time it is necessary to reiterate, the partby makergear - General
To be clear - we do not stock 1.75mm ABS for Up printers. We stock 1.75mm ABS for use with MakerGear plastruders. If you are curious about 1.75mm ABS then get a pound. Current pricing is $17.50 per/lb. plus shipping. We expect to have 5lb coils available soon and the prices should be comparable to 3mm filament. If you have questions, stop by the MakerGear IRC channel (irc://freenode/makergear).by makergear - General
Where did you get your parts? Rickby makergear - General
Brian - MakerGear paid you (upfront) to start making the 7/16" nozzles. The nozzles we received are unusable for our intended purpose. I decided to just cut my losses and have the nozzles professionally manufactured. I am not using or selling any of the nozzles that you drilled. I don't care if you sell 7/16" nozzles but I'm not satisfied with the product and I simply requested - before postingby makergear - For Sale
