I know that China has its own versions of many websites, Zhihu for Quora, Wechat for Whatsapp etc. So are there any 3d file libraries in China that are worth looking at? Do they have different designs to their western counterparts? Thanks in advance.by wenshidi - China + RepRap 用户组
Thanks Matt, that is a very kind offer. Even so, putting my book up on the wiki would be a little presumptious of me. After all, it is just a general book about 3D printing and not specific to repraps. Thanks for the offer though. I am starting to get some downloads on the Youmagine site. Fortunately my experiences with Ultimakers were very positive and I did not have a bad word to say aboutby wenshidi - General
OK here is the dropbox link, as requested. dropbox link I am also putting it up on Youmagine at the same time. I hope that you find it einteresting an entertaining reading.by wenshidi - General
Quoten9jcv WOW, that is a very generous offer!! Thank You!! You are most welcome. This community was extremely helpful when I was researching and this is the least I can do to say thankyou. Unfortunately, the PDF has been removed from Thingiverse and I suspect that this is is because I was openly critical of Makerbot and Thingiverse. For example, in the chapter on model repositories, I wroteby wenshidi - General
Now available for download at thingiverse free download at Thingiverse QuoteDescription This is a PDF version of my latest book on 3D printing. The past year has been very exciting, and I really wanted to share as many of my AM related experiences and experiments as possible. If you are just starting out with 3D printing, then I hope that this book will help you avoid a lot of the stupid mistby wenshidi - General

I too saw this and thought it was pretty poor. So my follow question is this. Can anybody here start a contest? I have a couple of good ideas for competitions but I am quite a new member and do not want to step on any body's toes.by wenshidi - Competitions
"The 3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker has announced its Ultimaker 3D Printer Toy Design Challenge, in which participants are invited to submit CAD drawings of 3D-printable children's toys. The five top entries, as judged by a panel of 3D printing professionals and technology journalists, will each receive an Ultimaker 3D printer as part of their prize. Entries will be judged based on creativity,by wenshidi - Competitions
These are certainly impressive models. What kind of prices do you charge?by wenshidi - General
Also have you thought of including a function that allows users to search for parts or assemblies. I was thinking formats such as .prt .sldprt .asm .sldasm. These could then be used as building blocks for designers who wanted to create new products. A bit like lego for Solidworks....by wenshidi - Developers
Since I published a small ebook about 3D printing, aimed squarely at newcomers to the community, I have been getting more and more requests to do presentations and demonstrations, with and about my printer. To this end, I am planning to add a number of classroom type supplements to my next edition, so that others will also be able to show off their machines in educational settings. Very cool, I like the fact that it features many more models per page than thingiverse. Looking forward to seeing more website added to the search.by wenshidi - Developers
I agree that getting this technology into the hands of youngsters and students is essential. There seems to be a flurry of new books on this subject these days. And now that the Pres has uttered the magic words, the international media is all over it. I saw a 3D printer news story on Korean TV last night and Chinese broadcasters are picking up on it big time. I have just launched a new book on the subject, entitled '3D Printing and the Next Technology Gold Rush - The Future of Factby wenshidi - General
Has anybody else here read the new book “3D Printing: The Next Technology Goldrush – Future Factories and How To Capitalize on Distributed Manufacturing” and if so what did they think of it. amazon link It seems to be geared much more towards a home business crowd rather than a technical or academic audience but I really enjoyed it all the same.
