Instead of making a whole new hobbed bolt, why not tape around the bolt you have to take the slack out? That should give you an idea of what improvements it might make, if any. Some of that aluminum duct tape might work really well for that... just a suggestion. Let us know what you find.by Crussell - General
The Prusa I2 is a good starting printer. Its easy to build, well documented, and parts are easy to source. I dont think you will have much trouble with wobble unless you are going to do some super speedy printing. As for wire strain, that all depends on the quality of the electrical components you are using and how well you wire it. I've only broken one wire since I started printing about 6 monthby Crussell - General

They are cheap and easy to hook up. My 30A PSU has never given me any trouble.by Crussell - General

I dont remember it saying that but at the time I was using Sprinter. It did it almost everytime I heated it up til I changed the current. I know thats what was happening though, just as soon as it hit 275c it would shut off unless I played with it a little bit to get it to heat up a little slower til it stabilized.by Crussell - General
Check to see if you are exceeding the firmwares max temperature. I had this problem when I started using the cartridge, it would heat up so fast that it would overshoot the target temperature and overheat which would shut it off. Thats why I limited the current to heater. Let me know if that helps, I will try to think of other things that would cause that. Have you checked for broken wires or badby Crussell - General
I just realized you mentioned 18mm thick? Why so thick? That is alot of added weight...by Crussell - For Sale
Not really considering it is pre-cut. I had it more in mind for people who may not have access to a table saw or other cutting tools and didn't want to buy an entire 4'x8' sheet of it like I had to. I also had some trouble finding it in 1/4 inch (more z height and less weight that way) as well. Most lumber yards (at least around here) dont carry it. And don't forget that is shipping included. I have yet to see that one yet that wasnt 6mm but thats a good idea...by Crussell - General
Also while I'm thinking about it, the J-heads have a heater block that is about 16mm long (across the hole for the cartridge). All the heater cartridges I have seen are about 20mm. This is normal and will not cause any problems.by Crussell - General
Tatoo you should find a setting similar to this in your configuration.h: Quote #define PID_MAX 175 // limits current to nozzle while PID is active (see PID_FUNCTIONAL_RANGE below); 256=full currentby Crussell - General
How long is the one you have Ohmarinus?by Crussell - General
Sometimes you need to limit the current to the heater in the firmware or at least I had to as the cartridges heats up REALLY FAST. I'm not sure about anything else but if you're looking for a heater cartridge I have some on ebay for a great price. Hope that helps!by Crussell - General
Get one of these: I have one and it works fantastic. I can get my bed up to temp in about 10 min. Also, if youre not already using one, get a nice square of sound deadening or something similar to sit on top of the bed while its heating up.by Crussell - General
Dont you mean RAMBO? or did I miss something? Anyway heres a link to Ultimachines RAMBO, they are located in Tennessee.by Crussell - General
Check your firmware, make sure you have the correct thermistor selected. If it is, Check all your wiring. If all of that is good, you may have a bad thermistor.by Crussell - General
I have various RepRap parts for sale including vitamins and printed parts. If you need something custom printed please send me a message on Ebay. Thanks and have a great day!by Crussell - For Sale
Well I have it all figured out in Openscad, however I did not figure out how to do it with FreeCad (I didnt spend much time with it either). I will try to set aside some time to figure it out as it looks like FreeCad has alot of promising features. Thanks again for all the help!by Crussell - General
Wow! You really outdid yourself NormandC! I havent got it to work in Openscad yet because of the spline thing, but if you say FreeCad supports SVG files then it sounds much easier to just do it that way. I'll give it a shot and keep you updated. Thanks for all your help guys!by Crussell - General
What brand of filament is it? I've noticed there can be a huge difference in print quality betweeen cheap and more expensive filaments.by Crussell - General
Im trying to get a 3d object out of a JPEG. I'm using Openscad and Inkscape. I've tried exporting it from Inkscape as a DXF file and importing it into Openscad so I can linear extrude it, but it doesnt appear to be very compatible with them. Is there some other way to do this? I've attached a picture. Thanks!by Crussell - General
Now offering custom 3d prints. Please message me on Ebay for more information. Thanks!by Crussell - For Sale
Im not sure about the whole copper plated thing but I have a heated bed from RepRapDiscount and it works fantastic.by Crussell - General
I just got a SainSmart Arduino off Ebay and it seems to work pretty good so far, but beware they ship via smart post.by Crussell - General
Im also trying to build one of these but I'm working on a shredder first. What are you using for a shredder?by Crussell - General
I've added some new items including heater cartridges and I should have some more LM8UU bearings in the next few days. Thanks for looking!by Crussell - For Sale
Has anybody else seen this yet? Pretty cool idea...by Crussell - General
I had that same issue, I just turned the current to the heater down. Its set by default at 255, I think mine is currently at 175. Works perfect! M303 is the command for PID autotune but you may already know that... Hope that helps!by Crussell - RAMPS Electronics
Not to veer away from the subject, but has any one tried using something like an encoder/DC motor setup with a 3d printer? Could be another good idea...or at least a fun projectby Crussell - General
