Hi, Has anyone printed with Woodfill? How does the mendel90 cope with it and what sort of settings should I be using? Is it the same settings as PLA? Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
Couldn't get the abs to stick! Would anyone mind printing me a fan duct for a fee?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
I've managed to find a bit of abs, not enought though! Got enough to do most of it, so I'm hoping to change it with pla for the last bit. lolby danlad1631 - Mendel90
Ok. I've got it connected to the left H? It stays on once it's started printing and once it's stop. This may sound stupid, can I print the new fan duct in PLA? I don't have any ABS and never print with it. I do have some tglaze, would that work?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Thanks for the help, got it working! Just to to check. When I stert to heat the hotend up, the fan turns off. Is this correct? Then when it's reached the target temp the fan comes on, is this correct? When the print stops, the fan stays on until I turn the power off. Is this correct? Thanks again.by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Ok thanks. I was trying to workout from your previous post what yellow cable it is on the melzi? Is it the one with all the yellow cables joined together? Going down the pcb route, why would I be getting a 0 reading from the hotend? Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
Thanks for the reply. If I put the red cable in the left H and the black cable on the left P the fan works, but I get a 0 reading on the hotend temp. If I switch the cable around the fan doesn't work. Any thoughts on why? Should the fan run constantly even when not printing?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Did you run the cables for the fan all the way to the melzi board? Can I use any of the pins on my PCB board? I'm not very got with electrics... as you can tell. What is the height loss from using the E3D? Is there anything else that needs to be changed in the firmware? Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
Thanks for the reply. Attached is an image of my current setup. I'm a bit confused as to where the correct wires should go for the new setup. Could anyone give me some advice on: Where do the black and red wires need to go for the hot end cooling fan? Where do the black and red wires for the thermistor need to go and in what order? I don’t want to wire anything wrong and damage the new hot eby danlad1631 - Mendel90
Just ordered my direct E3DV6 and printed a couple of new parts for it. I've got a couple of questions: I can't read electric diagrams, it looks confusing Does much change on this front? Would anyone have a picture of how it's wired? What is a safe maximum heat? What can the current Mendel90 setup reach? Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
What are your start and end points like? Attached is an image of a print I've just done. I can't seem to get this part of the print right. Would you share your FFF settings?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Just wondering if anyone else is using SImplify 3d? I've been using it for a while now. What sort of results are you getting? I've been getting great results on larger parts but not so great on smaller parts. On smaller parts I tend to get more blobs at the start/end points. I've attached my FFF profile for anyone that is using S3D. Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
Thanks for the reply. I've managed to sort it out by increasing the preasure on the filament.by danlad1631 - Mendel90
How can I stop the heat traveling back up the head? I'm trying to print a large flat base and by the time it has printed 80% of the first layer the filament has got to hot at the top of the head, causing the filament to go soft. I've tried increasing the speed but it had no effect. Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
When I measure my filament once it has been extruded in mid-air, it measures .63 to .65. Is that ok?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
The only settings I have are for simplify3d, I can have a look tomorrow and send you some of them. I didn't rate it and have been using colorfabb pla and really like that, it's very strong and easy to print with. I'm amazed at it's strength compared with standard pla.by danlad1631 - Mendel90
All sorted now. The burnt out block was causing the motors to run out. The block was easy to change as wellby danlad1631 - Mendel90
I don't seem to have any of those problems, what else could cause the issue?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Ok I'll have a look for a new connector. Would the burnt out block cause the motors to move out of alignment ? When I've been starting a print or a print finishes the motors don't seem to run in tandem.by danlad1631 - Mendel90
So I thought I'd do a bit of printing with my new Colorfabb PLA but before I started I thought I better check the printer over and noticed what you see in the photos. As you can see one of the connectors has burnout, not sure which one. Does this mean a new board? Where can I buy one and how much do they cost? Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
Is anyone using T-glase filament with their Mendel90? Can you recommend any settings? Heat, speed, cooling etc? Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
What's the real advantage of an E3D hotend? Will it reach much hotter temps than the standard J head? How high will it go compared to the J head? Does it give better results? how hard is it to convert the mendel90 to an E3D hotend? What filaments can and can't it print? I've been thinking of changing over for a while now but I'm not sure, any advice would be much appreciated.by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Yes the switch does click when bed touches it. I didn't have this problem before I started all this, could it be a software issue?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
That has worked but now the bed will not stop when it hits the limit switch when I click home all. If the bed was in the middle and I click home all and use my finger the activate the limit switch, it stops. I've checked that the bed makes a a connection to the limit switch and that is fine. Any thoughts on what could be the problem?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Ok, maybe that's where I went wrong. I'll redo it and see what happens. Thanksby danlad1631 - Mendel90
From the manual it says to copy the hardware and Melzi folder over to the Arduino folder, is that correct? I couldn't workout why there is already a folder named hardware in the Arduino folder, do they need to be merged together?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
I needed to change my z home position and feed rate. I hadn't used the printer for a while and had to reinstall windows on my laptop, this caused me to lose the arduino I had installed which worked. So I went through the manual and followed the instructions, downloaded Merlin from your GitHub and download the latest Arduino.by danlad1631 - Mendel90
OK so I downloaded an older version of Arduino and got it to upload the new Marlin firmware but now it's not really contolling the printer. When I tell the printer to move on any axis it is really delayed or wont move at all, if I tell the printer to home all, that works fine. What's causing this and how can I solve it?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Looking online I think it's because I haven't updated my Mendel90 since I bought it. I've downloaded the latest Marlin firmware and need to adjust some settings, when I try to upload the new firmware with the new setting changes that's when I get the message.by danlad1631 - Mendel90
Managed to get it sorted but when I try to upload to the board I get this message: Error while uploading: missing 'upload.tool' configuration parameter. What does this mean?by danlad1631 - Mendel90
