Hmm, yes somewhere along the way I thought I was to tighten the bolts. My problem with these instructions is several times so far they specifically say "do not tighten these bolts yet," but they never follow it up with a later instruction to finally tighten them yet give evidence that they should be. I loosened all the nuts, but that didn't releave any tension that was causing the misalignment.by Drangid - General Mendel Topics
I'm assembling a reprappro, mono mendel, and I'm having trouble getting the two y axis rods to line up parallel. I'm on the step where I place the glass on top of the two y-rods to test for a gap. (Step 5 of http://www.reprappro.com/documentation/RepRapPro_Tricolour_frame_assembly#Aligning_the_frame). There is a gap, and so the glass plate wobbles when I press on the corners. I've confirmed theby Drangid - General Mendel Topics
I currently have a spool from SainSmart. 1.75 abs white, and it's fine (almost used it all in fact). The actual filament ran between 1.75 to 1.80mm.by Drangid - General
I also had a problem with my fan cooling the bed too much. It would drop from 120c down to 90c, and so any small prints would just plink right off during printing. I put this insultaiton under the bed. It's basically aluminum foil bubble wrap. Afterwards it only drops a few degrees, maybe down to 115c, minimum.by Drangid - General
AH! That's the FET. I mistakenly referred to it as the heatsink. That FET next to the D8 is what is overheating and melting the mosfet. This ramps does not have a heatsink on the FET at all. If it comes to getting a new ramps (most likely) I'll look for one with a heatsink. Thanks for the info on checking if it's the arduino or the ramps, I'll check that tonight. Oh I hope it's not the arduino.by Drangid - RAMPS Electronics
Waitaki : Yes, the everything else on the printer operates normally when I disconnect the 11a power input. The D8 stops putting out power too Cefiar: Hmm, I'm afraid that's all a little advaced for me. My ramps came pre-assembled as I don't have a great familarity with soldering electronics. I only went as far as soldering the stepper drivers and various wires. I don't even know what part is theby Drangid - RAMPS Electronics
Update, Okay, so I used a multimeter on the D8 connectors (the heated bed connectors) , and they are putting out 12V even when the wires to the heat bed are not attached. No other connector puts out power when not in use, so I'm going to assume that's bad.by Drangid - RAMPS Electronics
I've got a ramps 1.4 board, and I'm using a heated bed. The bed was working fine for the past 2 weeks since I started this, but today I get bad things happening. The heatsink next to the D8 where the heated bed is connect grows immediately hot as soon as I apply power to the machine. I don't even have the computer plugged in anymore, just the power, and this heat sink will immediately reach untoby Drangid - RAMPS Electronics
Okay, so I've heeded your advice tattooedfish and I didn't drill through the hole in the PTFE rod. I found I could improve the grip from the hobbed bolt, and it has enough force to slide it through the tube no problem. But I did go as far as expanding the whole just on one end, to make it easier to feed the filament through. I used a large drill bit and went it just a few milimeters, then drilleby Drangid - General
My kit is one that uses a PTFE rod in the hot end. I'm using 1.75 filament, and it's a bit tight to pass through the tube, especially since the filament is a bit curved from coming off the spool. Should it be sliding through the tube very loose? I feel like the extruder would have to exert a lot of force to push it through. Is it safe to widen the 1.75mm hole, or should it be very snug? Also, inby Drangid - General
Thank you, jkoljo I'd prefer to go the route of not opening the PSU. So going with the altnerate, which wire do you mean by orange 12V? I'm seeing all oranges labelled as 3.3v in the diagrams. Can it be one of the wires from the 24 pin connector? And I don't know where you mean by the wire harness. If connecting those to the RAMPS, do I have to "jump wire" to the other pair of 12V+GND as you meby Drangid - RAMPS Electronics
Hello all, I'm a total newbie with electronics, so I apologize if my terminology is off. My kit came with an ATX PSU and I am trying to connect it to the ramps 1.4. I cannot figure it out through the wiki or tutorial videos. My ramps board does not have a molex connector, but instead has a mosfet terminal. Should I be cutting off the molex connectors from my PSU and sticking them into mosfet sby Drangid - RAMPS Electronics
