Quotecat.farmer I had a similar problem, mine was caused by the power connecter on the ramps. It melted itself to the point of no contact, but looked ok on the outside. So i would also check that there is power on the back side of the connector. That's exactly what it looks like on mine...I looked very carefully at the power connector, and the side of it seems to have a blob of melted plastic.by congaree - RAMPS Electronics
Thank you Cefiar! I'll try it out.by congaree - RAMPS Electronics
Cefiar, Thank you so much for that thorough reply. A lot of very good information there. I had nothing on my ramps actively cooled, so that is probably what ultimately did it in. I get nothing (well, 0.3 V, which is effectively zero) on D8. So, I have some things to look at here...the fuse should have reset. BTW, this just happened out of the blue...has been working fine for about 8 montby congaree - RAMPS Electronics
cdru, Thanks for the quick response. I checked both of the power inputs and both have 11+ VDC. I didn't realize these little boards had fuses on them. Are they those yellow square things? I don't see anything odd about them, but I've never seen fuses like that. 1) How do you tell if they are blown and 2) how do you change them if they are? Thank you again.by congaree - RAMPS Electronics
I think my RAMPS board just bit the dust, with respect to the heat bead. It just stopped working. I took a multimeter to the connection posts on the RAMPS board to measure voltage when the bed is turned on, and get something like 0.3 VDC. Obviously dead. My extruder posts measure 11.4 VDC when the extruder is turned on. So it seems to be a component on the board that failed. Everything elseby congaree - RAMPS Electronics

MakerFarm (Prusa i3 8") Nice choice...I built one a couple of months ago. It's a very complete kit and pretty easy to assemble. Like other have said, take your time and you'll be fine. While you are waiting for your kit, watch every one of the instruction videos a couple of times. Also, make sure you have all of the tools and supplies you'll need for the build on hand. Also, during the builby congaree - General Mendel Topics
QuoteJust curious if any of those more experienced think my reasoning is sound? Indeed...I just got my Prusa i3 going and ran into that issue straight off. I was simply that my Y-axis stepper didn't have enough current.by congaree - General Mendel Topics
Got the 8" Prusa i3 built and running. Took my time building it, since this is my first effort. Took about half a day of tinkering (mostly because I didn't have a clue how to make this contraption work) and am now getting perfect ABS prints. Just finished my backup Greg's extruder gears, which look as good or better than the ones that came with the kit. I can't compare this kit to others ouby congaree - General Mendel Topics
Took 2 weeks for me to get mine...1 week for him to get it ready and 1 week for UPS ground to get it here. I see as of yesterday, though, he's quoting a 2 week lead time to ship on his web site...looks like his business has picked up a bit. p40whk Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How long did it take to get your kit? Thank you! Hopefully you're coming along with nicely with your calibration...I suspect that's the most time-consuming part of the build...and more or less, never ending. Pretty darned excited right now. Been watching the build videos on youtube over and over There's a 1 week lead time to ship...feels like waiting for Christmas when I was a 6 yr old.by congaree - General Mendel Topics
Problem solved...Makerfarm just came out with an 8 inch version of their i3 kit The price is almost identical to the 6 inch version too, with all the bells and whistles...making it an even more amazing value. I'm doing it!by congaree - General Mendel Topics
Quoteby then there will be a i4 out lol That's not a bad thing at all ..well, twelvepro does have a nice looking i3 kit too. I've been looking at that. It looks like it has everything...including a price tag.by congaree - General Mendel Topics
Hey vegasloki, Agreed, if I want something sooner rather than later, it looks like an i2 is the way to go. I'm seriously thinking on this...wait a month or so to see if more i3 stuff comes out or go ahead and drop the dime on an i2? I'm definitely looking at the Makerfarm i2 now as well...and also the NW RepRap model.by congaree - General Mendel Topics
chris33, I completely agree with you about the advantages of a full-sized Prusa i3. That extra rigidity has got to result in better prints and less fiddling. Plus, they are definitely easier to build and have fewer parts. My problem is that I'm really restricted to fully sourced kits. I simply don't have the facilities to do much parts fabrication at all...plus I lack a lot of the required skby congaree - General Mendel Topics
Thank you for that very thorough response SirHoder. It really looks like an outstanding kit. I'm definitely keeping MakerFarm on my short list. Of course, now, I'm waffling back and forth between the Prusa i3 and i2 again. I love everything thing about that MakerFarm i3, except the smaller build volume. BTW, just to correct something I wasn't clear on earlier...the build volume, which I quby congaree - General Mendel Topics
Thanks for the info vegasloki. Your experiences fit the impression I got from their website and videos. The only reason I asked was that the price of their Prusa i3 kit seemed so low (basically, it seemed a bit too low), I was wondering if I missed something about the kit or the company that would indicate that they were cutting corners to keep the price down. About the only thing I see, as Iby congaree - General Mendel Topics
Need some advice...I'm doing my research now for a new 3D printer. I'm pretty cost sensitive, so I've been trying to get the very best bang for the buck, yet wind up with an excellent printer in the end. The Prusa i3, though a fairly new and evolving design, seems to be the best cost/performance option out there. So, I've spent the last 2 weeks attempting to source parts for it in the US. Awesome information Thinkyhead! I'm sourcing a Prusa I3 now and I just can't thank you enough for that fantastic sourcing information. I think sourcing one of these things is as tough as putting one together.by congaree - General
