It is not perfect by far but the idea is that the machine may be used almost without any hardware modifications. There will have to be some color change detector but thats it. No need to add any special extruders.by Tarakan - General
They will. But when a part is printed, there is inner volume of the part. So this mixed color plastic can be used on the inside of the part, while pure color can be used on the outside. Everything is simple and printers wont have to be modified. Only firmware and a new filament.by Tarakan - General

No. I am trying to make a printer that uses a single filament of varying color and prints the right color at the right time to make a surface of the plastic part a desired color. There is a manufacturer that will make such filament if they see a reason to. At this point everything is experimental. I have no way of doing everything myself.by Tarakan - General
Hello I bought a 3D printer (not RepRap but i can modify it still). I have this idea: A filament has portions of different color on it, joined together. Some input sensor tells the machine what color is about to enter the extrouder right now. An algorithm makes sure that the color that we want to see on the outside of our part is visible on the outside of the part. Unwanted color portions of thby Tarakan - General
Azteeg 328P home switches. GBRL doesn not see. How do I tell the GBRL that there are home switches on my board? The G code execution starts in a random place were machine happened to be after the last G code. What should I do to make the machine zero itself out against home/limit switches? Is GBRL smart enough for limit switches? I included limit switches for safety since I don't want this machby Tarakan - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I already bought a board, where electronics can do more than software wood allow for. What board should I buy that would let me run 5 motors? How do I tell firmware what motor does what? Thank you for helping me.by Tarakan - Experimental and Hobby
1) I want to use Azteeg X3 3DP Reprap Controller w/ ATMEGA2560 I see nothing better in the price range. Is this a good idea? I live in United States. 2) Because I want to use the device I am building as a 3D printer and as a mill, I need some firmware. I looked at this page and found no Download button or any link that would let me download this firmware. 3) How do I tell my CAM that there areby Tarakan - Experimental and Hobby
Who sells this board? I have no capacity to solder SMD electronics. I want to buy a turnkey board that is popular and easy to use.by Tarakan - Experimental and Hobby
Thank you. I bought Shapeoko. I bought it used and overpaid. Not very happy. Z axis is too short so I will elongate it. Everything else seems perfect. Currently I want to buy some board for my machine that will require minimal thinking/programming/soldering to set up.by Tarakan - Baltimore/Wash. DC (and environs) RUG
So what control board should I buy myself to be able to run 3 stepper motors + 1 stepper motor-based extruder and heatbed OR run this machine as a mill, with a spindle. I don't want to program, solder, build anything myself. I want a finished product to use with my Shapeoko - based device. Stepper motors have no termenals.by Tarakan - Experimental and Hobby
I live in Frederick MD, I am looking for a machinist. I need some part to be turned on a lathe and wound for a reasonable pay. (I hope the machinist will have nylon stock) I am trying to make a special Tesla coil. (they dont sell this kind of secondary on ebay) I can drive to DC or Baltimore as long as I won't be charged too much money and my work will be respected. Thank you. How about installing fan and creating a small wind current. This is how they remove feces from rat cages in the International Space Station. Rats don't like strong winds so the wind is only gentle enough to move the substance out of the cage... What about cooling everything by making coolant passages through all parts of the printer that need cooling and using liquid antifreeze substance to deliby Tarakan - General

Attaching a head for printing and a milling head so they point in opposite directions.by Tarakan - General
Thanks. Maybe I will have a mill up side down so filings fall down. But than I will have to clean the machine between modes of operation.by Tarakan - General
I want to have a mill and a 3D printer in one device. SO I want to put an extruder and a spindle on the same z axis in such way that one will be facing up and one will be facing down. Since milling produces dust, I want to have a mill face down and a 3D printer head face up... There will be two tables: one would be a table for milling and another one will be a heat bed for 3D printing. IS this aby Tarakan - General

Hello. I bought Azteeg G1-328P and 3 stepper motor modules + Shapeoko v1.4 mechanics. I want to build a CNC mill/printer. If I want to control heat bed temperature, extruder temperature, speed and spindle speed, what would I need? How do I wire an additional stepper motor driver to Arduino that is at the heart of Azteeg? What software should I use to turn 3D models, made in Solidworks or Autodby Tarakan - General
Some fool made a disposable pistol that will fire several rounds and jam. Now we have some more intelligent people talking about bullet proof vests that may shield their user from the bullet as effectively as plastic guns can shoot them. Reliability is the most valued quality of a firearm. If someone wants to fight using plastic guns that person deserves nothing but compassion... Going hunting wby Tarakan - General
True But what if the plastic the gun is made of is made out of some kind of aluminum oxide dust and plastic mixture? It will not last for ever but this will make it harder than lead where grains of hard material are sticking out.by Tarakan - General

If you are going to have a business, hire me as a janitor... Would it be possible to ionize the media with lasers and let a beam of electrons that will follow the channel do the work? How many lathe designs do we have? And what do I need to make a cheap turntable that also may need to be heated? I cannot find any existing budget parts and I don't have a machine shop. Is it possible to make a table/bed like as a flat surface with bent edges facing down, like a metal tray up side down. We drive closed - source automobiles. There is a reason why USB was not very handy for CNC machines. Big and precise machines usually have components that are far apart so networks of ETHERNET or CAN bus are used to connect them to dedicated controller machines.
