Quotethejollygrimreaper affordability is and never has been the issue For whom? On every 3D printing board I'm on it is the main issue for more than half of people considering a printer purchase. Lower printer costs are widely considered to be a bottleneck in wider adoption. If affordability is not a factor for you then why not simply use American and European made components? Quotethejollygrimreaperthe bigger question is why should we support these people when they clearly have no interest in playing fair to the rest of the community? "These people" are factory owners- they are not part of your community. Nearly all are older and survived the Cultural Revolution, leading to behavior that nearly all young Chinese also find unacceptable. These factories "support" youby Timaz - General
I'd agree, it's been about a year of nothing much- at least compared to the years before. 3D printers are a reasonable price, and reasonably reliable. I can make pretty much any plastic object I can think of and .15 is just fine for nearly everything I can think of. For me, and perhaps many others the problem is as a non-professional user the immense amount of time modeling anything complex inby Timaz - General
I seem to be having a weird problem with stripes on the Z-axis of my Leapfrog Creatr. I’m using known good settings that have worked fine in the past, there was a previous problem with the bed getting stuck during z-travel but it now moves smoothly up and down. It *looks* like the Z-stepper getting stuck advancing the the next layer? Any help would be appreciated.by Timaz - Printing

It's a no win situation- complaints that Ultimaker does not instantly release the source files, and cycism when Lulzbot goes way above and beyond what any reasonable person would expect with it's releases. That being said I’ve only seen a couple of Lulzbot clones here in China, it’s not at all a popular design for reasons I cannot fathom. Not that I would encourage them of course, but still.by Timaz - General
QuoteA2 QuoteTimaz They are also applying for local (Chinese) patents on those designs in order to stop other Chinese companies from copying their copies. Who is "they", and got a link. There are a lot of Chinese 3D patents being filed, many are based on existing overseas technology: Creatbot is an Ultimaker clone that claims (but does not list the number of) five Chinese patents: "5. 多项专利:不堵by Timaz - General
Quotepossenier Since they are one of the company's that gets copied the most from chinees company's, i think it's more than understandable they wait for 6 months to release the files. I agree. TaoBao has dozens of brands making dirt cheap, metal, Ultimaker clones and they have far, far shorter lead time and lower costs than anything Ultimaker can hope to have. Okay gang, more Chinese printers. These were taken today at the China 3D Printer Expo. It's on until the 27th if anyone is in or near Shenzhen. There were fewer Ultimaker clones and derivatives than I expected given how popular they are with the Chinese 3D printing community. Most of these are manufactured up near Shanghai and this expo has more Guangdong companies exhibiting, that could have plby Timaz - General
Wiestek is is known for being aweful. I honestly don't know how they stay in business- I had well meaning Chinese makers quietly warning me after I left their booth with their brochures:-) The other issue is Taobao versus Aliexpress. Quotepossenier why would you want to copy a replicator? it's also stupid they don't let there own tech guys improve it. I ask this same question. Few people in the Chinese 3D printer community have a very good opinion of the Replicator clones. They are bad copies of a dated design. The guys doing the cloning are usually well trained engineers from top universities- they see the problems in the original designs and I've seen some brilliant solutions on their personal machines. A few pictures of printers from the China High Tech Fair today. Not a great showing or many well known domestic 3D printer manufacturers since the China 3D Printing Expo is next week. Most companies are probably holding out for that. I'll post full pictures from that expo as well. These are mostly prototypes or relatively unknown models. QQ friends are a bit unhelpful- many sell filament :-) Okay, the cheapest small extrusion machine I see is still 20,000RMB (and looks like a nightmare to ship). No shortage of shops that will make custom screws- they will need a CAD drawing (PM if you want a list, QQ has a translate functions and the sellers are pretty patient). Alibaba tends to consist mostly of companies that are only interested in large OEM orders. I'm a member of the Chinese 3D printing QQ group, lot of factory bosses post there. What is it exactly you need? I can ask them, see if anyone is interested. It's also pretty easy to buy extrusion screws retail which would probably be a lot less hassle than custom.by Timaz - General
That's quite a bit more than it's selling for in China ($550 USD), see this thread: It's a Replicator derivative. The owner of the company is just doing a bit of fine tuning before releasing it, I don't think more than a few have shipped yet.
