I have contacted the magazine but no reply and no voucherby stonefisher - Competitions
I thought you were supposed to run prints off a card if you wanted a smooth print job without pauses. I don't have a computer spare to run a printer anyway. This is why I want a lcd display. I suspect my plan of a dual extruder rostock would generate even more problems then. At £170 for the sainsmart kit, I thought it was a good price even if it has no labels for the pins. I can't find any otheby stonefisher - Reprappers
I'm thinking of getting this set for a rostock style delta 3d printer. Is there any reason why I shouldn't?by stonefisher - Reprappers
Well spotted vreihen, It has 220v listed for the round pad, 24v listed for the rectangular pad and 12v in the product title. I will have it made to order to match the size of the glass plate. I can choose any voltage I like.by stonefisher - Reprappers
Yeah I haven't got mine yet either. Also just seen in magazine issue three they got the picture for my water screw and unasone's belt buckle mixed up.by stonefisher - Competitions
Hi, I am going back to the idea of making a Rostock/Kossel printer as my first printer. I am trying to find an affordable supplier for a round borosilicate plate in the UK with a print volumr of between 300mm x 300mm and 400m x 400mm (but round and not square). Can anyone recommend a supplier for the glass in the UK? What thickness do I really need? Is there any alternatives to borosilicateby stonefisher - Reprappers
Hooray. A solution, Now I can go buy a set. Pity you void warranty just to get it to work in the first place though.by stonefisher - Reprappers
Still no prize and the Faberdashery vouchers according to the magazine have expired.by stonefisher - Competitions
After further research I think I'm going back to building a rostock based printer.by stonefisher - Reprappers
And I was just thinking about buying this set in the UK. Is it any good other than this? I can't really see much choice for controllers for these in the UK.by stonefisher - Reprappers
Hi, I am thinking of making a lisa simpson 3d printer because it looks interesting and has a seemingly lower cost. He used a 1018 Carbon Steel Precision ACME Threaded Rod 1/2"-8 Size, 1" Travel/Turn, 6' Long, Right-Hand Thread, 8 Starts from for his printer which has multiple threads and a travel of about 25mm per turn. I can't find this for sale in the UK. All I can find for ballscrews andby stonefisher - Reprappers
Ah, I was wondering if anyone had got there prizes. I have not received a Faberdashery voucher yet. It also expires in less than a months time. It looks like I'm going to have to do a panic purchase. I was thinking of getting a 100m coil of Aurora and 100m of Glowbug yellow. I couldn't resist there colour changing properties when I saw them. The only real question is do I buy 1.75 or 3mm as Iby stonefisher - Competitions
Heres my model, Just panic typeing description and taking photoes. Edit1: Edit2: The photo: Edit3: Water is the most basic and most important thing for a good quality of life. You need to drink it, grow food with it, cook with it, wash with it, travel on it and there are so many activeties that use it. So idecided to make an all plastic (with some nuts and bolts) water transport device. Thisby stonefisher - Competitions
I havnt finished my models to enter Logic would dictate that the competition ends on the 25th a sunday and not the 15th a thursday. Plus ending on the 25 would mean they get exactly 1 month to judge the competition and print objects for the show maybe. Also we have not had 7 entries yet for the seven seperate competition prizes so it would be a bad idea to end the competition now. One last thby stonefisher - Competitions
WEEEE, I'm goingby stonefisher - RepRap magazine
You could try this if you are in the uk:by stonefisher - General
I love hard copy of books and magazines but space is tiiiiight where i live in the UK. I Would fix hooks to the ceiling If I was allowed. So no I would not pay for a physical copy. Also it is a bit of a waste really. Unlike a favorite book you are unlikely to read a book more than once except for certain referance pages and youd just print those pages only.by stonefisher - RepRap magazine
Yes but I don't think thats allowed for the reprap magazine competition.by stonefisher - General
If you have a metal lid or something to form the boundaries is it possible to squirt a clear plastic fast enough that it pools and levels of and then cools into a clear disc with no bubbles? I suspect a very hot print surface would be needed to slow cooling down.by stonefisher - General
@paul2d3d. The kossel is the newer version of the rostock but using 15x15mm extruded aluminium for the frame. At this page at the bottem is a spreadsheet that will tell you what lengths of extrusion gives you what print area and what length you need to make the arms. Also you will want to install the auto leveler that Johann has made. I am thinking of making a kossel 1m wide and 2m high when Iby stonefisher - Reprappers
Ive just seen the competion prizes and its just what I need to make my first 3D printer. Ironically I need the prize to enter the competition to win the prize. I have thought up a great entry which is currently floating around my brain but I need someone with a printer to print and test the item and make photoes of it. I can model the item and send it over to be printed. Though if you live in oby stonefisher - General
You should try a duct more like this one which blows air from all around just below the nozzle.by stonefisher - General
@purteesteve Yep print area is the deal breaker. None including the models you listed have the print area I need to make a 1:1 scale model. This is why i'm going to need to make a giant version of one of them.I really like the delta rostock design as it requires less parts to make and it seems really fast. It also has a good horizontal footprint which is key for me. I understand that the print arby stonefisher - Reprappers
So how do you do a duct cooler on a delta printer? i got a nice 30CFM centrifugel fan that is silent.by stonefisher - General
So more airflow = better models but how far can you go untill it starts making it worse again?by stonefisher - General
I have been wanting to try this out for when I make my first 3D printer. Unfortunately i didnt have the money to buy some when it was discounted and I still don't have money to buy any but one day I will. Anyway I want to make a delta printer (kossel one with beams only). To do this you need 120 degree brackets or plates or 60 degree brackets or plates. They havnt made any for the V-slot yet sby stonefisher - Extruded Aluminum Frames
Hello, I am new here and want to build my first 3D printer for making 1:1 scale prototypes for work and to just have fun. I have been reading around for months and dreaming of having my own 3d printer . My criteria is: 1. Not cost the earth, 2. Can print 400mm x 400mm x 450mm objects, 3. Has a small footprint, space is at a premium including when running, 4. Is fast, I loved richrap's prusa hoteby stonefisher - Reprappers
Hello, I have been looking at 3D scanning technology recently and checking out reviews. A good free option so I have heard is 123d catch by autodesk. It is free to use and all you need is a digital camera and a computer. The hard bit i suspect is the subject staying still for multiple photographs. I have not tried it myself but as it's free whats the harm in giving it a try.by stonefisher - General
