Ok, who makes the best one? Got a bit of overtime this week so might as well.by NjEmt527 - General
My Prusa I2 has two things going against it.......I have an MDF build plate and it gets moves around a lot. It goes between home and different job sites. And living in NJ the humidity varies a bit. So I was looking into a way to automate bed leveling and came upon a few different solutions with z probing. Matter hackers (link below) seems to be the most document and successful. Has anyone got itby NjEmt527 - General
So I was ordering some parts online for my Prusa I2 and I ended up ordering so stepper motor cable to redo the wiring. here are some bad connections in the wiring from the previous owner. Well I missed the fact that is is 18 awg and when I solder the molex pins on it won't fit all the way down into the standard Molex connectors for the Ramps board. This is my first project using these connectors,by NjEmt527 - General
Got my hot end in less than week here in the USA. Thanks for the fast shipping. Had to change a ton of things in Marlin going from the original Buschudo (sorry for the spelling) that was on my I2. Printing a Bowden mount to use with it now in PLA, which it is performing wonderfully. Can't wait to try this bad boy out with my Nylon 618 spool after that. Thanks for the great hotend. Made my lifeby NjEmt527 - General
I got two rolls of 618 about a month ago and in some places it measures as big as 3.15 on my digital calipers. Still manage to squeeze it in my nozzle with no issues luckily.by NjEmt527 - General
I bought 2 different spools of PLA from Amazon. One is translucent blue from I dont know who and its not the best to print with. I bought a spool of black from JustPLA and I really like the results. JUst FWITby NjEmt527 - General
Thanks guys. Wish I would have read this before I decided to get a few too many beers in me and my credit card out. The e3d Bowden is on its way and I'm printing parts now for the bowden set up. But I'm still excited to say the least. Ill have to post pics when Im (and if lol) up and running.by NjEmt527 - General
Ordered mine last night, got shipping conformation today! I am looking forward to this hot end. Looking foward to being able to crank up the heat a bit on my nylon prints. I've been combing this thread for all the little tips and tricks that may be posted. Cant wait to get this thing on Sarah, my I2by NjEmt527 - General
I'm getting ready to re wire my Prusa I2. The are some ghosts in the wiring job the previous owner did and Im tired of them. I figured while I was at it, I would upgrade from the original Bushchdanozzle (I know, its spelled wrong. I can never remember the correct spelling for some reason) he installed to an all metal hot end since the majority of my printing thus far is Nylon 618 and Im pushing tby NjEmt527 - General
Yes. LOL. Maybe its just a model part and hes planning on making it in metal? One can hope, right?by NjEmt527 - General
December does seems quite soon. But I think I'd be willing to wait a short spell if it means spending 1300 dollars less than the MakerBot. If your looking to sell millions of these and give Makerbot a run for its money, than you better have a darn good supply chain and site. Personally I would at least make the hardware itself open source and push selling your software. 2 lasers, a webcam and a aby NjEmt527 - 3D Scanners, Book Scanners, and Optics
That looks sexy. Whats the max temp it can handle? In the market for a new hot end actually to replace my buschado or however you spell it and want to go higher temps for nylon and such.by NjEmt527 - General
I just want make sure that I not missing an important reason to use rod. I just see using linear much easier to make everything square and level. Im having so many issues with my prusa I2 frame being tweaked. Between the fact the person I bought it from didnt feel like putt 100 % into it and bought a Makerbot and the fact that I take it back and forth to work with me, its just not ideal. So I've been looking into building my own 3d printer using my Prusa i2. I got inspiration from the Mendel Max 1.5. I'm planning on using Open Build V slot for the frame. I was working out the details and trying to work in a way to hold the smooth rods and thought why not just use the linear rail v slot instead? Is the a reason everyone uses smooth rod other than the availability of it?by NjEmt527 - General
I am def thinking about pulling the trigger on this. Even if its not open source. I could see a use for this in my current setup for reproducing small parts for equipment on our ambulances. And if it is open source, itll give me something to tinker with. Whats the max size you can scan? And can the user make it bigger or will you offer a larger model in the future?by NjEmt527 - 3D Scanners, Book Scanners, and Optics
Im having a sort of similar problem. My I2 was printing like its normal finicky self (mainly nylon). I bought some PLA (first time I orderd, my used I2 came with a roll of pla and nylon, now on my 3rd spool of nylon) and now my flow seems to start "drying up" after about 1/2 way into my prints. The walls become thinner and fill stops connecting and then just printing in mid air. IF I pause the prby NjEmt527 - General
Actually, I just viewed my gcode on and for some reason slic3er is actually added the gaps in. Also, my part is short on the x and y by 10 mm even though my calibration is good on my prusa (i double checked it). All my holes and cutouts are within tolerance.by NjEmt527 - General
Will this also work on a Ramps 1.4 board? I have been trying to figure out a way to have a buzzer sound (either add one or maybe use the one on my lcd board) to let me know when my print is finished when Im in the next room. I didnt even know marlin had this option!by NjEmt527 - General
I do mine at 200 degrees F while I sleep (about 6 hours). Stays white and flexible when dry.by NjEmt527 - General
So I had to replace my x carrier plate on my Prusa due to an issue. While I was at it, I replaced the printed pla bushings with printed nylon self centering bushing. Now, I have a weird gaping issue. Any ideas?by NjEmt527 - General
I think it has just worn out over time. The inside of the zaxis is the same size as the nut i think, so if it doesnt hold maybe I can get it down in there to print another?by NjEmt527 - General
This part (the green one, pla I think) came on my Prusa I2 when I bought it used. It is located on the Z axis mounts. I have looked at the prusa wiki files, and cannon find it. Just noticed 1 of the two is badly damaged and I need to print it before it gives out. And this is my only printer lol. If someone could name it or link it, it would make my day. -Clarkby NjEmt527 - General
So I am printing two of the same part at the same time. Same length, width, height, and all. The only difference between them is the holes on the base. One has a standard hole, and one has a square sides. I used slic3r and slice both parts at the same time in the same file. On the tallest section, one is doing a solid fill and one is doing a honeycomb fill at 20%. Anyone else ever have this happeby NjEmt527 - General
DeuxVis, As far as warping, I have yet to print ABS. But nylon warps with a bit of for and a lot of curve if it is moist, a 50mm hexagon ended up looking like a 1/2 ball on the bottom before drying it. I used the temp of 200 F because I felt comfortable leaving the oven at that while I was sleeping. Threw the nylon in when I got home from work and went to bed with the timer set. So I am posting this because because I found information scattered around the internet and it was a pain to figured out what was where. Hopefully, next person that googles it will find this post: I bought my Rep-Rap Prusa I2 used. It came with a small amount of PLA and almost a full roll of Taulman Nylon 618, both 3mm. It came with a plexiglass bed installed and a heated bed (not installed) andby NjEmt527 - General
I had the same issue last night. My motors were skipping and stuttering. Turns out my drivers were getting hot. Put a fan on your drivers and electronics and see if that helps. Fixed my issue right away.by NjEmt527 - General
Here is is my first print guys. Need some more tweaking but I happy with it! Thanks for the help!by NjEmt527 - General
Thanks Miso. Thank will be next. You guys must be night shifters also?by NjEmt527 - General
Well, it was skipping, but not because of the trim pots. I just put a fan on my boards. I remeber someone saything there motors skip unless they have a fan on there boards Im at almost 25% complete. The base of my cube is warping like hell, but its a big fan (like 8 inch). Its literally laying on top of my boards but there is still a ton of air movement around the piece. I already have a 80mm fanby NjEmt527 - General
No, I did not. I will have to google it and see if I can figure out how to do that. Any certain one or all of them?by NjEmt527 - General
