I run a small website that offers 3Dprinted models in return for a donation you see fit. The idea is the better the quality of product i produce, the more people will tend to donate, the more they donate the better the service gets as all donations go towards better materials and better printers. I currently have an indiegogo page to raise money to build a DLP printer, which will reduce the timeby stefanjess91 - Crowdfunding Projects Announcements
Recently I built my own 3d printer, it started as an idea. While I was at work I was thinking of ideas to make money, business ideas. I did this a lot, especially while I was at work as this was the time I wished most that I had enough money to not have to work. It was then I found a video about 3d printers. I soon decided I'd build my own and after I'd got the funds together I purchased a reprapby stefanjess91 - General
No it's only the first layer I run that slow Dave, after that I just print at my regular speed. Bigfilsing both the spools I have had this issue, I got them off amazon from jet. Where did you source the filament that you had no issues with?by stefanjess91 - Reprappers
Ok I FINALLY figured it out. Take the time to make sure the bed is perfectly level, and slow the speed way way way down, I've got mine going at about 5 mm/s, and it's printing perfectly, my bed temp is 80 degrees and I'm extruding at 195, I'm not sure if the temperature has an effect as I've not changed it since I got things working, I'm gonna slowly increase the speed to see what I can get awayby stefanjess91 - Reprappers
Ok I halved the first layer speed, and I saw a very minor improvement, I then increased my bed temperature to 80 degrees and again seen improvement but there's definetly still an issue, I'll try further reductions and increases respectively and come back with results. I haven't got time to apply any kapton tape right now (i have to use the wet method I can't seem to get it stuck with no air bubblby stefanjess91 - Reprappers
The only way I managed to stop it from happening was to reduce the flow all the way down to 40%, but then the finished print was very very brittle. My first layer print speed is at 65mm/s. I'll try all these suggestions and come back with the results, thanks for all the help.by stefanjess91 - Reprappers
I'm printing with pla, I tried the pva glue method and the same thing happened, as for lifting back from the bed when I do that the plastic always catches on the hotend and drags the print around, the level I'm printing at right now is as high as I can go before this happens. Thanks for your suggestions thoughby stefanjess91 - Reprappers
Im having this problem with the first layer of my print, it looks to me as though the nozzle is dragging up the plastic that its already put down, its not enough to make the print fail, just ruins the bottom layer. I tried raising the layer height a touch to see if that would help but it just lead to the plastic not adhering properly to the bed. Im currently experimenting with different temperatuby stefanjess91 - Reprappers
It was 1.75 PLA I was looking at, so I'd be much better off finding a well rated amazon supplier, as I'd be paying roughly the same for 3 times as much?by stefanjess91 - General
I've been looking for the best place to buy some pla filament, and was all set to buy from faberdashery when I noticed that for almost the same price I could get 3 times as much from suppliers on amazon. Faberdashery sell there filament in 100m coils which they say is about 300grams, and a kilogram is only very slightly dearer from amazon, am I missing something or is it just because the faberdasby stefanjess91 - General
There is quite a bit of radial play yes, I don't have any epoxy glue but I put a very small amount of tissue paper untie small gap there was between the bearing and the printed housing and it seems to be working an absolute treat, thank you very very muchby stefanjess91 - General
The only camera I have available to me right now is on my phone and I'm having trouble getting them to be a small enough file size to upload here, I'll get back to you as soon as I can, thanks for your help.by stefanjess91 - Reprappers
I really hope someone can help me here, ive been trying to fix this issue for almost a week now with no luck whatsoever. I had this same issue with my mono Mendel, after researching a bit I read that it could be the motor wasn't getting enough current so I upped the current, only by a very small amount and the problem went away, I hope this helps you too.by stefanjess91 - General Mendel Topics
Just finished building my reprappro mono mendel and everything seems to be working fine apart from the hot end. when i set it to 100c it goes up to 27 and then stops, and wont go any higher regardless of what its set at. Does anyone have any suggestions?by stefanjess91 - General

Hi, I'm waiting to get paid so I can afford my mono Mendel, but in the meantime I was considering building a reprap Morgan as I've read you can do it for under 200 dollars, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience building one of these, if it's really as cheap as I've read and if there's anywhere I can buy a kit. Any information is greatly appreciated :-)by stefanjess91 - General
I really like the i3 and fully intend to build one at some point, but the lack of documentation and higher cost drove me away from this printer for my first ever build. I was originally set on the i2 but while I was looking for a decent supplier for a kit I found the mono Mendel, and as you say they have a huge following which will be particularly beneficial for my first build, in fact I think yoby stefanjess91 - General
Is there a significant difference between the build for a prusa i2 and the mono mendel?by stefanjess91 - General
Ill definetly be buying a kit, id actually already purchased a mono Mendel but due to a problem with my bank the funds couldnt go through, so I've actually already got all the tools I need for the mono Mendel, I do really like the look of the Mendel 90 and I've heard a lot of good things during my research, what other tools would I need if I was to decide on the Mendel 90?. What would you say theby stefanjess91 - General
Hello, I've been researching which 3d printer to buy for my first build, I definetely want to go for a reprap, I'm just not sure which one. I'm not too bothered about the difficulty of the build as I'm willing to put in as much effort as is necessary, but I'd rather not spend more than about 600. I'm probably going to buy the reprappro mono Mendel with the intention of upgrading to tricolor in thby stefanjess91 - General
