I purchased some 8mm smooth rods from sidewinder/folgertech and USPS of course damaged the packaging and the rods fell out which they then delivered an empty package. I told Folgertech what happened and they promptly shipped replacements. After months of use the rods did not show any signs of wear from lm8uu bearings and are still in perfect condtion. I would not hesitate to do business with themby Josh_mp5 - General
Most slicers can generate what is called support which means the printer will print a structure from the bed up to where the over hang is which can be removed after the print is doneby Josh_mp5 - General
If you only changed to a heater cartridge there is no need to change what thermistor settings you are using just hook it up like the resistor. Unless you bought a whole new hotened with a included thermistor. What hotend are you using?by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
Yes it works, you can do 1/32 microstepping with all of the jumpers in place. With 200 step motors and 20 tooth GT2 pulleys you get 160 steps per mm which means as a best case scenario with marlins 40khz step limit you could technically move 250mm a second but you probably wont get quite that fast.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
Switching the endstop will cause the firmware to look for the endstop signal on a different pin max instead of min of vice versa. So switching the endstop in firmware and not putting it in the max endstop location on the board would be why it was ignored.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
You can also try boltdepot.com they have good prices and shipped fast. I bought nuts and bolts for my kossel with a lot of extra stuff for 25. Just the stuff for the kossel was like 13 bucks.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
You could also try diluting elmers white glue in water. 30% elmers 70% water then paint it on and let it dry and run the bed at 50c to 70c that has worked very well for me.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
In my experience cleaning nozzles with acetone takes alot longer to melt than abs normally would, because there is alot less abs in contact with the acetone.by Josh_mp5 - General
I had this same problem printing over usb with repetier and marlin. I switched to printing from sd and havent had any issues.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
I am sure a bearing is perfectly fine but I opted to use a pulley with two bearings as an idler. I do not think it really makes any difference.by Josh_mp5 - Mechanics
Is your steps per mm correct for your extruder motor?by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
If you didnt want to go the epoxy route you could sandwich the damaged corner with a nut and washer on either side that way it would stay secured to the mounting screws and would not slip off during a print. That is what I am doing with my heat bed and as long as the washers are larger than the damaged area it should hold fine.by Josh_mp5 - General
What firmware are you using? I am using marlin and in the configuration.h file line 438 you need to remove the comment lines // for it to define the reprap discount smart controller. The line looks like this #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER. The line will be gray and turn black when you un comment it. Thats what I did to get mine to work.by Josh_mp5 - General
Have you installed the u8glib library into your arduino library? It is needed to run the lcd properly.by Josh_mp5 - General
I would insulate the thermistor wires with kapton tape and make sure they are isolated as well.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
It would still be possible to print it would just take much longer than it would using belts and pulleys.by Josh_mp5 - General
I have not finished my printer yet but I do know that if you use leadscrews for all your axis the print speed will be very slow.by Josh_mp5 - General
Have you tried connecting the Ramps when the arduino is not connected to usb or powered on? I do not know if that makes a difference but maybe connecting the ramps board while the arduino is on is causing an issue.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers

Maybe it is dirt clogging your nozzle, have you thought about using a sponge or cloth clamped on the filament to clean it and wipe off any dust or particles before going in to the extruder kind of like this?by Josh_mp5 - General
You can use 4988 drivers or drv8825 drivers but you will need one or the other for the board to work.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
Well I received my order today. I sent the payment on Monday the 2nd and on the 5th I asked if it had shipped and if there was a tracking number and the reply was it would ship on Saturday the 7th. On Sunday I emailed them again for a order update and the response then was that it would ship Monday the 9th but it actually wasnt' shipped until Tuesday the 10th. It was shipped UPS worldwide expressby Josh_mp5 - Reprappers

I am working on one but I am still in the stages of designing the frame and acquiring all of the parts which shouldnt take too much longer. As for the firmware I am not far enough along to start trouble shooting issues so I am afraid I will not be much help in that area. Once I get farther along in my build maybe we can help each other out with firmware issues.by Josh_mp5 - Delta Machines
Have you thought about adding some structural supports to the frame? I am assuming that you are using 8mm smooth rods and some lm8uu bearings and it looks like the smooth rods are the only support which could cause a huge amount of flex and also the top and bottom twisting in opposite directions.by Josh_mp5 - Delta Machines
Nicholas.seward do you have any type of wiper on those bearings or do the grooves in the plastic bearing itself wick away the dust and debris? Do you need to apply any oil to the rods? Also could you use them for rotary motion as well as linear like the ultimaker brass bushings work?by Josh_mp5 - Delta Machines
The cheapest 3/8 linear bearings I have found are from mcmaster and they are $22.14 a piece part #60595k12, So I guess the money saved on inch rods isnt really worth it unless you use brass bushings.by Josh_mp5 - Delta Machines
"the heater resistor is way smaller than the heater resistor itself." That does not make much sense? Do you mean the hole for the heater resistor is smaller than the resistor itself, if so it probably is made for a cartridge heater which mine are 6mm and the 6.8 ohm resistors i have are 5mm so I would use the heater cartridge. Pics would help people better understand what you are talking about.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
Try using some 3/16" ID tubing which is 4.7mm. I have also bought .170" tubing from lowes which might be a little small but it was like $3.by Josh_mp5 - General Mendel Topics
Well I decided to place an order but only because I paid through paypal so we will see if everything works out or not. I will be posting back here with my good or bad experience.by Josh_mp5 - Reprappers
