Hi, Thanks for your replies. I was hoping to calibrate the extruder in the same way I did the axes. For these I measured how far the head moved when told to go a set distance, and made the appropriate adjustments. In the configuration file there is a value to set the number of steps per mm of extrusion. I found the problem, which I record here in case it is of help to others. I was using a Reprap program that I downloaded a few months ago, when I was trying to learn what Reprap was about. This appears not to be compatible with the controller firmware, as things seem better with the latest version. Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me some suggestions with the following. I'm trying to test my V1.2 motherboard (from Makerbot). I am pretty sure I have programmed it correctly & the LED now flashes once per second When I rum the Reprap program I see in the consol that it attempts to initialise the Arduino but this is followed by a string of 'Receive error, resending...' . Hi, Which jumper was causing you the problem? I am struggling to debug my controller board as well, although my symptoms seem to be different to yours. (When I run Reprap I see in the command window that it is failing to initialise the Arduino) thanks Bobby Bob Hodge - General

Hi Pete, Thanks for the tip about Wordpad, which works fine. It's amazing how one tiny piece of information can make such a difference! My problem now is that I can't get ReplicatorG to run any more - I can't think what I have done. I've downloaded everything again so it is using all the original files but I still can't get it to run on the PC, although it works OK on the desktop. I guess I mayby Bob Hodge - General

Hi Pete, One very simple question I'm hoping you can help me with. I can't edit the ReplicatorG file machines.xml. I'm using XML notepad which works fine with firmware.xml but I get an error message Version number'1.1' is invalid. Line 1, position 16 Can you suggest anything? Hi Fred, The LED pin is pin 0! Thank you so much for that nugget of information! I am now the very proud owner of a blinking LED. I am now struggling to get a download program into the controller. I can't make any sense of the Wiki firmware installation (my ignorance, I'm sure) so I'm having a look at ReplicatorG. The LED is still blinking! Thanks again Bobby Bob Hodge - Reprappers

Hi, I feel a compete idiot asking this, but here goes. I can't understand the instructions to create the download program: The C++ program to be loaded into the Motherboard is in the directory mendel/firmware/FiveD_GCode/FiveD_GCode_Interpreter of the download. The latest version is here in the RepRap Subversion repository, but take care with that - it may be an unstable development version.by Bob Hodge - General
