did you ever get a response? I am currently trying this on a print... i brushed on directly 1 hour in and it HASsmoothed very nicely but still feels tacky.. i'm wondering if there is a way to harden it up/speed the process? UV/Hot/Cold/Airflow?by 88Zombies - General
Does an one know of any slicing sofware that allows the user to change the layer resolutions mid print. example: I have a 250mm tall model. the first 200mm has no real detail and could be printed at 0.2mm for speed. the last 50mm is detailed and needs to be printed at 0.1mm.. currently i'm having to print the whole thing at 0.1mm for the top which takes 3-4 days... annoying. being able to increby 88Zombies - Printing

thank you!!!! there is one slight issue, I finally got around to ordering the 0.3mm nozzle but they only do quick-set... is there a way to upgrade my ormerod 1 hotend to the ormerod 2 hot end assembly? I have purchased the nozzle, a quick-set cooling block. I'm assuming i can print most parts but there is a new arcylic fan holder i do not have... could i just print one? If so does anybody havby 88Zombies - Ormerod
I have just seen the reprap ormerod shop has closed!!! This is such a shame. They were so reasonably priced and provided an amazing service!!! does anyone know if the parts are still available? e.g. the duet, hot ended nozzles, aluminium blocks?? really worried about using now in case I brake anything and can't replace! any help MUCH appreciated!!by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hi, Aftyer just replacing the fan on the extruder, my PSU has now given out... sods law. does any one know if this will work as a replacement?by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Ah thanks. Had a look but can't find them anywhere... just email the support on the Ormerod website...by 88Zombies - Ormerod
ah that would have been a much better idea. I have already poked the pins out (one broke in the process which is why I'm trying to find replacements). Chances are I've probably broken the original 6pin connector housing... What pins and connectors do I need? Will these do?by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hi, My original Ormerod 1 fan has finally given out. Just putting a new fan in, however, this has a red, black and yellow wire. The Ormerod fan has only a black and a red... Shall i just ignore/remove the yellow wire? also, bonus question. Does any one know what crimp pins are used on the fan and where i can get some? Male 2mm?? no idea.... any help much appreciated!by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Did you build that butterfly on yours?! incredible stuffby 88Zombies - Ormerod
yea, chocolate printer too Great concept but I couldn't see much info on the specs at a glance and its only cutting paper on the images. seen other similar mods popping upby 88Zombies - Ormerod
I've seen a couple of printers recently with a laser cutting mod. or some one with a interchangeable laser cutter tool; is there anything like this available for the ormerod? no idea about this, just thought I'd ask as i have a few things that might require cutting soon.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
I have a print I'm trying to do that is about 195mm x 195mm. When ever I try to print, the ormerod (1) doesn't start central... so about 1cm of the filament falls off the edge immediately. How do I calibrate it to print central on the heatbed?? I came across a how-to on the Ormerod documentation a while ago but cant find it again... any help greatly appreciated.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
did you heat the wire to clear the nozzle?? perhaps i didn't have the correct tension on the spring loaded extruder, gone back to using a normal extruder and is working a little better.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
My ormerod 1 keeps jamming, (really getting annoying now. after about 20 attempts at a 9 hour print) at first im fairly sure it was dodgy filament thickness... but now i've tried a spring loaded extruder and another normal extruder.. i find when it does stop, if i give the filament a little push into the extruder it gets it going again (then it will stop again eventually) i thought it might beby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hi! I'm currently running the Ormerod1 and getting a couple of complaints about the noise.. does any one know of any decent PSUs that are a bit quieter than the one supplied?by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Had my first problem with filaprint the other day, varying thickness jam the machine (even with the spring loaded extruder) It was the florescent blue 1.75mm reel. has jammed the machine about 5 separate times now. Each time about 3-6hours into a 9hour print. very annoying. I bought it off their amazon seller account rather than their actual webpage, don't think that should make a difference thby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Personally I find the 200mm great and very quick to apply. Just as long as you really wet the glass with water and washing up liquid, and squeegy afterwards. With the amount of water I use the corners of the kapton tend to come loose which is actually quite useful as it allows you to add the white squares afterwards and secure with some a small piece of the original tape applied. The only issueby 88Zombies - Ormerod
thank you both. Yes i believe it may be because of the wall thickness in relation to the angle of slicing... the wall was 0.5mm wide but formed an enclosed hexagon. When I rotated the model the same issue occurred but in different places... i tried reducing to .3mm, the same issue occurred in almost the exact same places....by 88Zombies - Ormerod
I'm fairly certain it's the rubber seal. (its on the linear bearings) I should have ordered from china a while ago, planned on a whole weekend of printing so ordered from Reprap, just hope it arrives in time now. thanks for the input.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
i think i need to replace one of my bearings... one has some black stringy bits starting to come out the end what should i look for? are there any good online places anyone knows of??by 88Zombies - Ormerod
I have created a single wall 0.5mm in width for support. the only issue is when it comes to slice the wall, the gcode adds a VAST number of retractions. 'Image 1' shows the gcode first creates the wobbly wall fine.... 'Image 2' shows how after printing the wobbly wall, the printer will then retract repeatidly over the section... this really increases the print time (by about 2 hours overall) whyby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Reducing the speed and adding a shim it is. Will give this a go tonight. Would it be a bad idea to add another fan? i have an extra on i sometimes use when bridging... i would assume the extra cooling could help each layer dry sooner. On the other hand if edge-lifting was to persist it could it reduce the efficiency of the nozzle softening the plastic? Also, on the gcode, Lift Z on retractiby 88Zombies - Ormerod
ahhhh ill try reducing the speed, currently the perimeters were set at 30mm/s (small perimeters 20mm/s) total time 6hours... yea i think i may have to add 2 small supporting walls on each, was trying to avoid that if i could thanks for the inputby 88Zombies - Ormerod
After a small break I'm again inseparable from my ormerod, but having an issue or two... As shown in the image attached, the inner edges of some very slight overhangs are lifting upwards. It isn't a major issue at first but eventually the lifted edge always catches on the sensor (of other low hanging components), essentially ruining the print. I've raised a very similar issue before but never mby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hi, just making a model and was wondering if there is any trick to adding support manually... reason being there are a couple of parts of the design that it's essential that no support is printed... do i just leave a small gap between the support and the required print? any help much appreciated!by 88Zombies - Ormerod
so I am trying to print a VERY small bridge...1.5cm i have printed longer before but this particular file doesn't seem to want to print... When I look closely it seems that what is happening is; - as the nozzle beings the bridge there is very little extruded, - as the nozzle is about half way over the bridge it begins extruding a lot heavier... the weight of this means the extruded material justby 88Zombies - Ormerod
