Hi What electronics are you using Techzone, RAMPS, Gen6? Did you test whether the Extruder motor is well connected? You can try to connect the Extruder motor to X, Y or Z stepper driver to make sure it's not a cabling issue. If you're using TechZone or similar electronics make sure the mother board is connected to the Extruder board. Regards Tayebby tayeb - General
I second Original's advise on mendel-parts.com. My experience with Camiel in the past has been positive, I am still hopeful that they will be able to manage their supply to the satisfaction of their customers in the near future. I don't think it's time yet to order from Mendel-parts.com. You can check the forums at mendel-parts.com to get an idea of the issues the customers' are facing and it's aby tayeb - General
I think it would be hard to get an objective evaluation of the pros and cons of the Prusa versus the standard Mendel, it would require someone to have both printers and compare them side by side. The issue might become irrelevant as the price of the reprapped parts and bearings keeps coming down. Some people have claimed that the Prusa mendel would be less precise, I don't see what would cause tby tayeb - General
Here's my advice: I think it's a good idea to build a Mendel Prusa if you have a limited budget, it will save you some money. 1 - you need to buy the reprapped parts, check ebay, the prices are falling, expect to spend around $ 80 to $ 100 (let's 70 Euros), that's the most critical piece, stay away from the Laser cut parts. 2 - Electronics: 2 clear choices here, the electronics set from mendel-pby tayeb - General
The UP! printer uses only 1.75mm ABS and this I think is what started this trend. Initially the people who bought the UP! had to buy it from UP! directly from China ($ 70 for 1.4 Kg), then MakerGear started supplying the 1.75mm ABS that seems to work with the UP! printer ( ~ $ 22 per lb). UltiMachine also has 1.75mm PLA for $ 13 / lb. Based on the results of the people using the UP! printer it lby tayeb - General
It's the: Mouser Part #: 785-135-104LAG-J01 Manufacturer Part #: 135-104LAG-J01 Manufacturer: Honeywell Description: Thermistors - NTC Glass encapsultd. CHIP It costs $ 1.83 at mouser, $ 0.89 is you buy 10 or more. If you're building the new aluminum block heater hot head (based on Nophead's design) don't force on the Thermistor, you might break it, just make the hole a little bigger. Regby tayeb - General
Some sets sold recently on eBay for a little over $50 (the Prusa variation) which is cheaper to build and easier to mill or even build as a Wood Mendel. You can also search for Custom Machined Metal Mendel, a user by the name of swighton built a very nice Metal Mendel and made a number of drawings for it that you can also find on the web, he built based on the original which would cost you more.by tayeb - General Mendel Topics
Hi I remember one of the steps I had to do was a driver for the USB port, an FTDI driver. That's probably the reason none of the apps recognize the motherboard. Regards Tayebby tayeb - General
Hi Here's what I get. Not sure what to do with Rz, I am using the same thermistor from Honeywell and these values seem to work. // Thermistor lookup table for RepRap Temperature Sensor Boards (http://make.rrrf.org/ts) // Made with createTemperatureLookup.py (http://svn.reprap.org/trunk/reprap/firmware/Arduino/utilities/createTemperature Lookup.py) // ./createTemperatureLookup.py --r0=100000 --by tayeb - General
Thank you Cefiar, I don't think it's the power supply (it's rated at 5A and the board is Stepper Board is only pulling around 2.8 A). I have partially solved this problem by feeding an M113 S0.7 command in the gcode file. It still gets stuck from time to time. I think the way to go might be just another stepper driver as a number of people have suggested. Thanks Tayebby tayeb - Controllers
I have a problem with my Extruder Board from tech Zone, it's able to drive the Extruder Stepper when the Heater is off and when the heater just starts up, but as soon as the heater reaches a high temperature (around 150). The Stepper just hums and there is no movement, just LEDs blinking. I tried changing the speed and pwm, setting the pwm using M113 and letting the board control it, to no avail.by tayeb - Controllers
Humberto, If I were you I would wait before placing an order with mendel-parts.com, this would give them time to catch up with their orders and you can monitor their customer's feedback to see how well they're doing. They have good good electronics and I had a good experience dealing with them in the past. They are just going the growing pains of a start up. If you are looking for a full mendelby tayeb - General
I bought the electronics kit from Tech-zone and I placed the order on 05/07 and the kit was shipped on 05/21. I am pleased with the quality of the kit, they also included a set of cables which I though was a nice touch. I did not install it yet in a working Mendel, but I tested the boards individually and they work. I think the guys at Tech-zone are trying the best they can but are probably overby tayeb - General
The best option in my opinion is a Wooden Mendel. You can get the Mendel to work and then re-use the hardware and electronics in the RP Mendel. I am slowly building a wooden repstrap. Trying to stay as close as possible to the Mendel parts. The best options in my opinion would be: - Electronics, I bought mine from Techzone I think they offer a competitive price, around $200. A cheaper optionby tayeb - General
