Well I'm happy to say that it's ordered and on the way. $674.99 USD for a sure-fire printer with tons of support and guaranteed quality. Not only that, but I got a recommendation from the guy who invented it and now sells it on his own site. That's a pretty cool story to tell.by Neybordave - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey Prusajr, Just went and checked out your printer and I'm going to order the i3 lcd kit. Any discounts available for being a reprap'er? Haha, I'm just being cheap. Thank you both for your responses. I'm happy to get started again. My last experience was ordering a Box'd 3D from DIYTechShop and they took my money and finally closed and filed bankruptcy. I expect this to be a much more pleasantby Neybordave - Prusa i3 and variants
and before anyone posts it, I have been looking through the Prusa Buyers Guide on this site. I was just hoping for a little advice from people who have tried out different kits, vendors, etc.by Neybordave - Prusa i3 and variants
Howdy folks, Finally decided to pull the trigger and build a Prusa i3. I've seen some seemingly decent kits from China on Ebay but I've also heard that they sometimes come with knockoff boards. The one I'm currently looking at is: There are so many tech shops and options available that I'm kind of lost. I know I want dual extruders and I don't really feel like sourcing every little part myselby Neybordave - Prusa i3 and variants
I had to have Clark County send me the paperwork to take them to small claims. I'm sending it in and the Sheriff will serve it and I may have a private company do it too if the Sheriff doesn't have any success. I just like the idea of the cops coming by their house. I've been put through enough at this point that I'm feeling a little sadistic about it. I'll keep you posted on how it all goes.by Neybordave - General
I ordered my printer a month before this thread started. The "massive thread" has been developing for 3 months as everyone realized they were getting shafted. So yeah, do a little research.by Neybordave - General
BOOM! DIY tech shop and XSS INK are OUT OF BUSINESS. Both their webpages are down with a simple message saying so. They have 900 of my dollars and I'm filing in Small Claims court today. Seriously, what a bunch of crap.by Neybordave - General
erikn, You do know that it's the exact same company right? I pulled their business licenses and it's the same guy with the same address. I think he started XSSINK to continue selling because DIYTechShop was getting such a bad reputation.by Neybordave - General
I wish I had. I payed with my debit card through their OpenCart checkout. I looked into OpenCart and on their own website they advertise to potential customers for their system that there are no disputes. It says all disputes must be handled by the issuing bank. Are other people buying them from Ebay? I bought directly through their website and there are no options to file a claim. It's really nby Neybordave - General
Well, my experience with them is still just getting more frustrating. They received my 12i printer three weeks ago after I shipped it back. I have confirmation of the delivery and they will not respond to phone or e-mail. I had a couple conversations with Van before I sent it back and I was assured in good faith that it would be about 5 days from their receipt to my refund. They are completely avby Neybordave - General
Nice, I'm glad to see you got yours working. I'd love to see more pictures of it. I returned my 12i to them and they received it last Tuesday ( 1 week) and I still haven't heard anything in terms of a refund. I'll call later in the week if nothing comes my way. I've actually gotten Van on the phone to discuss my issues with the printer and timeline and he's very pleasant and seemingly willing toby Neybordave - General
I just checked that video out and left a comment there as well but really nice work. I'm still in the process of acquiring a 3-D printer (damn you DIYtechshop!) but seeing stuff like that makes it even worse because you're clearly demonstrating some of the amazing potential of these systems. I build, paint, and race motorcycles and having a head that I could use to cut vinyl decals would save meby Neybordave - General
Good idea. I just went and filed a complaint and also sent a Paypal request for a refund. If worst comes to worst, it's $29 to file a Small Claim with a $5000 limit. I'm sure it would be settled in arbitration if they even bother to show up. I doubt they would. Their BBB score is C- currently but my complaint hasn't processed yet. I wish I would have checked before I paid. Caveat Emptor.by Neybordave - General
Originally posted this in the "DIY tech shop-bad experiences" thread but it belongs here also. I went into the Washington State Sec. of State site, Dept. of Revenue site and gathered a little more info. I completed the RMA (return material authorization, I assume) on their website and it assured me that my request will be forwarded to the proper department. I also called after submitting the RMA but their voicemail states that they "are not accepting tech calls at this time." I'm in Baltimore for the time being but I live in Portland and I will not hesitate to take this straight to small claimsby Neybordave - General
They must have shipped a lot of them at the same time. I got mine today also. Super bad quality on the frame. The cuts look like the work of a beginning woodworker. They're torn and chipped and burned in places. The speed was too low or the blade was too dull. It looks like the saw was cracking the wood instead of cutting it. Blade in backwards? Some of the slots are broken out, too. I wen't thrby Neybordave - General
Total noob to 3-D printing here but did have something worth mentioning. Just to keep your size experiments more accurate, I would suggest drilling to size about .005" inside of the nominal internal diameter you want and then using a reamer of the desired size to remove the final bit of material. It will make the hole much closer to round and within thenths (of thousandths) of the ID you were shby Neybordave - General
Also, I would strongly advise you against doing business with XSSINK. It's the exact same people, same phone, same garbage product that shows up missing parts 8 weeks after you order it. They cloned the DIYTechShop website and are apparently just trying to continue doing business-as-usual on a different site. I gave them $900 nearly 2 months ago and still have no printer and I'm getting no responby Neybordave - Prusa i3 and variants
Wow, I wonder if someone there is reading this thread. Just now I checked back to their website and there's an actual picture of the printer, not just a CAD rendering.by Neybordave - General
Hey, thanks, daboomafoo. I don't have another printer but I have a friend who does. He was excited for me when I bought it but now he's been telling me for weeks that he could have printed all the printed-parts that I'd need and I could have built the rest. I have a woodshop and machine shop at my disposal. This is really just boiling down to whether or not I want them to have my money. Other usby Neybordave - General
I'm in the middle of a pretty unsatisfying experience with them at the moment. It's all going on over at "Xssink Boxd 3d printers - Good or Bad reviews anyone?" thread. They started a new website that is a clone of they DIYTS one and it's the same story. No e-mails response, some phone response with empty promises and no printer after 7 weeks, and counting. Pretty bummed here.by Neybordave - General
It just really seems like they started advertising this printer before they had it nailed down. This is the sort of thing you should start a Kickstarter campaign for. You don't throw a CAD picture up on the internet, mark it as "in stock" with an arrival time of less than two weeks, and then take peoples money and not answer the phones. I'm sad to see that I got pulled into something that they'vby Neybordave - General
I'm in a similar boat. I ordered the 12i on December 15th because it was listed as "IN STOCK" on their website. After 2 weeks I emailed them. Nothing. 1 more week I emailed them again. Nothing. 2nd week of January and I call a few times over several days and they answer and tell me it's on the dock ready to ship. I check the next day and it hasn't shipped, but now lists as "IN PRODUCTION." I wasby Neybordave - General
