Are there any alternatives to the stl file type that would slice faster in slic3r? I have modeled a grid/mesh in autodesk inventor it consists of about 35 x 35, 4mm x 4mm squares and takes ages to generate g-code from an stl file. Thanks.by danielhammond - Reprappers

Ha Ha Tell me about it. I have already replaced the y and x carriage with aluminium parts and purchased the 'printinz zebra plate' for bed material. I'll look into these options. Thanks.by danielhammond - Reprappers

I have a Sintron prusa i3 printer I have heard that the standard smooth rods that come with printer aren't that accurate. Can anyone recommend an upgrade that would improve the quality of the print. Basically I am looking to minimize play in the carriages bearings/rods. Also I am using the standard LM8UU bearings are there any upgrades for these? Thanks.by danielhammond - Reprappers

I meant get it to a specific temperature faster. If I added insulation would that happen? The main reason I wanted to do this was to test the sticking of a cube printed at different temperatures in abs and would therefore like a bed which would get me to say 140-150 c. I guess peltier s could be an option if required. I'll have to look into that thanks for the idea.by danielhammond - General

Has anyone got there heatbed Mk3 or other upto 180 c?Has anyone tested using insulation? If so what type and what were the results? My Mk3 will reach a maximum temp of 109 c from ambient 22c in about 30 mins running on a dedicated 24 v 10 amp supply with no insulation. I want it to get hotter and faster if possible. I am going to experiment with 2mm cork under the bed but wondered if there mightby danielhammond - General
Sintron Prusa i3 hot end temperature drop - 10 years ago
My hot end is set for 230 C for abs in pronterface. The hot end reaches this temperature but drops to 200 C before printing. Has anyone seen this before or know how to solve this problem?by danielhammond - Printing

I have now got the heatbed reaching 100 C by connecting it via the 12 V connecter instead of 24 V but it will not go higher than thisby danielhammond - Printing

My heatbed is not reaching the required temperature. It reaches around 52 C max. I have it wired to 24 V should I use the 12 V connection instead? I have measured the voltage across it when heating at 11.7 V and when printer switched off resistance about 5 ohm?by danielhammond - Printing

I have fixed this problem. Turns out the extruder motor was just stuttering not rotating properly. I reversed the motor connecter and the extruder worked but in the reverse direction. I then switched the connecter back to the original position and the extruder is now working properly.by danielhammond - Printing

I have an MK8 extruder on my Sintron prusa i3 3D printer. I have just finished building the printer and connecting it to the pronterface software. Everything is working except the extruder is not extruding filament. The motor turns but no filament is extruded. Can anybody help with the setup/calibration of the extruder for this model. Thanks.
