Thanks so much for the input regarding the voltage! that's news to me and a load off my mind! I thought I fried the board! Regarding the Diodes: Based on their location, I'm 99.9999% sure that they are not related to the steppers based on location (far away from stepper drivers, very much adjacent to each hotend output). Does anyone have an azteeg they can flip over and check to see the statusby Leav - Controllers
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to try and help me. Upon first wiring my 24v hot end to my 24v powered Azteeg X3 Pro, the hotend started heating up immediately on power up. I confirmed it was not a firmware issue by uploading the "Blink" arduino sketch. I pulled out my meter and indeed measured 24v on the (+) output for all hot end outputs on the board. I then measured the voltage betweenby Leav - Controllers
I would like to order a small quantity of profiles from german based company MK-Group, but they don't ship to Israel. Anyone willing to help out a stranded reprapper? Thanks! -Leavby Leav - Reprappers
Hello, I am designing my own 3D printer and am planning to order a custom silicone rubber heater for the heated bed. I would like to run it off of mains voltage (220v here). Any suggestions regarding which company to use or what to look out for when contacting with them? Thanks! -Leavby Leav - Developers
I, too, am looking for a phone number for them...by Leav - RAMPS Electronics
Hello, I'm in the early stages of desiging my own kossel-style printer. I would like to drive the heated bed with mains voltage in order to reduce the power requirement on the power supply. Even if the following is an insane idea, I would appreciate an explenation along with the name-calling! So, the basic idea is to order a board like this, and power with mains voltage. BUT! since just connecby Leav - Controllers
it's about 1.25 mm thick, and made from about 6-8 plies of thinner paper. I have an idea: if someone would volunteer to test the material I'll send you a sample and you can get a feel for it and go to a local art or office supply store and find out it's name. Any volunteers?by Leav - General
we got it from the local office supply store on campus... it costs about 1.5$ for a 1.2m by 0.8 meter sheet... maybe a cheap version of water color paper? even if it's slightly expensive, it seems that it can be printed on multiple times due to only partial delamination of bed material when removing the model and the multiple plies inside the materialby Leav - General
Here is the 2nd video, I destroy the material here so you can see what it looks like. Again, please view both video in high quality (720p) to see the texture I think it might be called paperboard, does that make sense?by Leav - General
Dabble: What I know here as bristol has a smooth finish, this is more coarse and pulp-ish. chase82: definitely slightly rough. it reminds me of scrapbooks too! something you'd see dried leaves in maybe? I'm uploading a video of me tearing it apart, it is made of mutiple layers and feels as if they were compacted together to form the final material. Architecture students here use it to build moby Leav - General
Hello everyone, We've made a nice discovery recently which shows promise for those without heated beds, I'd like to tell you what it's called but here is a language barrier here. I know how it's called in Hebrew (קרטון ביצוע) but not in English. Here is a picture of it: stack of it it's a heavy paper/cardboard made from a rough pulp, here is an interaction video with it... maybe it'll help youby Leav - General

It is important to note that anyone can register (even if you don't have the electronics) - it's just that people with the electronics will be given priority.by Leav - Israel, Tel Aviv RepRap User Group
We are not sure when we will start printing, but when we do we will offer parts at cost to Israeli RepRappers. QuoteRegistration Form Eventually the RepRap team at the Technion (Haifa, Israel) will start printing parts for the Israeli community. Price: cost of materials + 4 Hamburgers. Funny Thing happend... I opened up the newset host software and it did not have the FiveD setting. I don't mean that it was false, it was simply not there! Thanks to Jonathan's explanation I immediately traced this back to the properties file... I deleted it and bang: the FiveD parameter appeared! i think this should maybe be classified as a bug? the software should know about old properties fiby Leav - Reprappers
Jonathan, First, thank you very much for the comprehensive explanation about the properties file. Regarding the FiveD flag.... QuoteJonathan I hope this helps explain what you have discovered "the hard way" I'm hard pressed to imagine anyone finding out about this in a more convoluted way, but at least I've learned a whole lot! I'm still skeptic about my host software containing that preby Leav - Reprappers
so this was just pure luck? where are the preferences stored, by the way?by Leav - Reprappers
and finally all the pieces fall into place. I was using: reprap-host-windows-20090804 which (mercifully) does not have a reprap.properties.dist file. I just happened to have: reprap-host-windows-20081218 which I found when searching for "reprap.properties.dist" and this successfully turns the motor! 3 cheers for legacy software! and ofcourse for everyone who helped us out along the way!by Leav - Reprappers
thanks nophead! my recent love affair with python must be getting to me I'd appreciate any help regarding the preferences file! does anyone have a clue about this?by Leav - Reprappers
As I said, I am working with Asaf on this. here is where we are now: changed the set_speed function in the following way: Removed (commented out) portions regarding stepper motor. (for clarity) Commented out wait_for_temperature() (for testing). Here is the code now: void extruder::set_speed(float sp) { e_speed = (byte)sp; if(e_speed > 0) //wait_for_temperature();by Leav - Reprappers
Right now we hit ramp on rxtruder tab, and we can see the temperature rising slowly (according to the ramp rate) to the target temperature, which we set in extruder tab (not the preferences page). The temperature then holds at that temperature +-8 degrees. Is it possible that the arduino either has a different extruding temperature set, or that it is seeing a different temperature? -Leavby Leav - Reprappers
Hi Everyone, I'm working with Asaf on this printer. Following nophead's comment, I have a question and an idea which I would like to bounce off you guys: The question: Do the endstops indeed control the bahviour of the extruder motor? (We'll verify this tommorow by reading the code) If this is indeed the case: The endstops we got from the RRRF for this printer WERE INVERTING. The MIN endstoby Leav - Reprappers

Hi, using Gen2 electronics and Gcode_interperter code, I uncomment the following line: // Uncomment the next line if you are using a thermistor; leave it if you have a thermocouple #define USE_THERMISTOR but now the sketch size is too big for the Arduino. This is on arduino18. Any clues here? Thanks, -Leavby Leav - Firmware - mainstream and related support

Wade, Thanks for the advice and the offer! (though I'm a little confused how you got to thinking I'm in canada... I'm from Israel! ) Your design does look amazingly simple and more reliable! My spare stepper motor is a NEMA23, which I think is quite a bit heavier than the NEMA17 you are using. would this be a problem? (I could always order a NEMA17 if I have to). Regarding the offer to send theby Leav - Reprappers
I had the same problem and the problem WAS the end stops. make double sure you checked this by changing the value in the "inverted" define. though that seems unlikely to be the problem in your case. so basically as far as you can tell Host Software: OK (sending out correct G-code) Sanguino/arduino: OK (dir pin inverts, and step pin is pulsed) Stepper board: ?
