I have been looking at x5 as a fast addition for another printer. have found a very few "honest" reviews on youtube. Looks like it needs quite a few mods just looking at it. Those reviews confirmed that. Still looking for a fast addition to the fleet. But can't find one cheap that seems to work decent... Go figure.. Best buy seems to be a cr-10 or a variant. Think I have to step up progreby SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines
Have had a E3D v6 copy. worked ok fo a while on my first heavily modded 3D printer. Anet A8. Don't remember what broke. But I went to buy a original V6. Emidietly I saw way better print quality. In my mind. I would never switch back to aa clone. Not worth the hassle, because original is not that expensive. Maby 500hr of printing (moved it to another printer after giving up on A8). Still workinby SatorCodex - General
Id go for a Hiquality ply, with as many layers as possible. 5-10mm thick. with as many layers you can find. It will not warp. and be stiff enough for a purse style. aircraft is still being built in this. Ive removed fabric of wooden gliders that is 50+years old. Looks still good, and have no warping.by SatorCodex - General
Alcohol or gasoline works best. 3M also have a gel that is fantastic for most. Haven't used it for some years. (expensive) I do work with adhesives every day. (sign and graphics) I have never heard about peanut butter.. Ill try that next time I have a customer visit.. lolby SatorCodex - General
That is a quality kit! I have a Simonet, very similar to the Schaublin 102. At the moment. I need the space. But just can not sell it. Simonet is very unusual to get hold of. But schaublins 102. Are quite common. Have a constant search on eBay ect. When you find one that is well tooled. and good condition. A abused one is worthless. But, buy one, you will never regret it. Atleast as long aby SatorCodex - CNC Routers, Mills, and Hybrid RepRapping

QuoteBee69 Thank you to all you guys. I had my first sucsesfull print. It's a Z axis anti wobble part. Im well happy. Adrian Picture or it didnt happend!by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
I had problems.. OS X. Just gives me time out too.. so a old laptop with windows worked like a charm! Have you tried different baud rates? Start with the low numbers. And work you're way upwards. This can be very frustrating problem..by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Isnt this dude fixing up the same printer?by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Hmm. I think you have several issues. Have you mesured the hight of the x-axis ends. They have to be equal. You might have a (one of them) problem Where one of z axis get out of alignment.by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi. I have a A8 with the newer mainboard. I did print quite alot without any mods. It worked well for me. But there are many reports regarding burnes connectors on both mainboard. And connectors to the bed. Have don the mosfet mod. Feels better going to upgrade Wires to the bed. And solder them to the bed. DJdemond is absolutly right in his comments. Oh. I dont leave it in attended for longby SatorCodex - General
Oh.. forgot to give you my settings! first. opened the fan. One part hangs in the air. Its probably one of the problem. the other part is bearly touching the surface. Im sure this is a problem. make sure the first layer goes down well! Nozzle has to kind of squeeze the filament on to the build plate. Without nozzle touching the build plate. If pla doesn't come out directly when start prinby SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
I use one of the wife`s (aka the government) empty nail polish cleaner. Has a nice tip. the cleaner is pretty much acetone anyway. so the bottle holds up.by SatorCodex - General
Hi. I will pull out my Cura settings tomorrow. Bit tired on Friday night.by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
try a different masking tape. When printing petG. I just scotchbrite to ruffen the tape a bit. Kind of breaking the shiny surface on the tape. It makes it stick way better.by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Agree. If one just want to "press play" and start 3D printing. I think its the most Bang for the money.by SatorCodex - General
What Cura version are you using? Have you found the settings in Cura? I can see that the print in the picture has warped upwards. Do you have painters masking tape on the bed. Or what is the print sticking to on the bed? Does you're fan work, thats cools the print around the nozzle? For PLA, its best to habit to full. or almost full effect. Thing is. if it warps. The nozzle will drag theby SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
To me, the CTC is un known. Really, really cheap. But it has a small build volume. Id pay more for a ready to go prusa. You can order direct from prusa. I think its just plug in and play. With the already built one. It has a slicer program with ready made settings etc in the slicer. I think you just can go to prusas own forum and ask any question. There is many reviews on the prusa on youtby SatorCodex - General
I'd say prusa i3 mk2. Ready built. Lots of bang for the buck. Huge support forum etc. Then I think it's a big step moneywise to the next level.by SatorCodex - General
Somehow I have problems with the forums. Sometimes it thinks Im a robot posting. Or only little of my written post shows. Like above.. there should be much more..by SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines
Quotethe_digital_dentist. I've considered building a delta printer but I can't figure out any acceptable (to me) way to ensure that the vertical frame pieces are in alignment. Hm.. Think about it. A plumb Bob will do the job. Together with a jig/fixture. Do it sound crude? Think about it.by SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines
Oh. Layerhight, speed and retraction distance is found in the slicer program. What slicer are you using? Btw. Im fairly new to this too. Ive learned alot on this forum so far. Just glad to be able to help some one! Tip! There is alot of info Regarding printers and settings on youtube! Search youre printer ther. Im sure you will find alot of info.by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi. Layer hight is how much the nozzle moves up per printed layer. If you get what I mean? 0.4mm nozzle. Normalt you print with 0.2mm layerhight. Think about a big stack of pancakes! Mm very single pankacke is a layer of pancake! (Now I got hungry! Printer speed is the speed the nozzle travels in x and y axis. Z i movement in hight.. ex z moves nozzle up 0.2mm per layer. Retraction is whatby SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotesidhabo Just printed my new ABS that was declared as clear transparent. Quite a bummer. After print it was far from transparent. More like light whitish So I guess I will have a go at PETG after all. Hope for better result on that. Hi! Petg. will give the same result. Abs might get "clearer" with acetone warping. Or clear coat lack. My Petg does not get "clear transparent" Think ABSby SatorCodex - Reprappers
Toothed idlers, was what I did mean! I got a couple real cheap from ali.. They work ok. But I agree.. bearings is probably not good. The alu extrution they are made of. Is one of the lowest quality Iever seen. (defy not Swedish quality anyway.) Though. Im trying to spend as little as possible on the Anet. Its a cheap printer. Im trying to keep it that way. Still, I have plans for new bearinby SatorCodex - General
Hm? Just to be clear. Does the motor moves/running without filament?by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi! I did change my belts (GT2) to prosper quality that is soft and fiber reinforced. Also swapped my bearings to, toothed pulleys. That did bring ringing and distortion quite a bit. A Bowden setup, also improved the prints. Still not perfect. But I will try to change some 8 mm rods to better ones. + quality bearings. Improved frame rigidity. Small improvement there too.. Think there is mby SatorCodex - General
No problem! It can be very frustrating at times. But when it works out and you have a nice print. Its really cool! I try to learn too. This is a awesome forum with alot of very knowleble people. And they contribute very much too noobs like my self. So, I try to contribute when I can do so, too. happy printing!by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
