I use the drivers that I found here: and also the repsnapper with the settings that can be found on the same page. That worked directly. I'm still struggling to extrude my abs, but all the motors work. My motors are also making noise all the time except when I click the 'connect to printer' button, its quiet for about half a second and then they start humming again. I suppose its normal if we boby tman - Reprappers
Try opening that file with Notepad++ ( ) or with wordpad. The blocks you see should be new-line characters, but notepad doesn't recognize them. That's why the file looks so dense.by tman - Reprappers
I got all the parts here in a box, its about 950g for all plastics including Adrian's extruder.by tman - General

I don't have that printer, but if the heads crash into the bed, I'd say the bed isn't completely flat. It has to be totally level to print correctly, because the heads are very close to it. Looking at the image on their site, there are some orange screws on each side of the bed. I think that by adjusting these you can make sure the bed is completely level.by tman - General
If you want to make a lot of stuff yourself, a repstrap is a lot cheaper than a reprap. There is less documentation on them, as everyone just uses the parts they find in their local shop. You can find different designs on . I don't really know what the cheapest one is, but most of them are cheaper than a normal reprap. The wolfstrap looks cheap to me, but not everything is translated from the Gby tman - General
The source code can now be found on @Sebastien: I now recieve mails from the reprap-dev mailing list. But haven't worked with mailinglists before. How do I create a new topic in there, or better: is there an easyer way to communicate without the mailing list?by tman - General
I'm using stl2pov and povray. You can read more about how I made it here:by tman - General
It's easy to add the functionality of uploading other filetypes that are inside the zip. I would need a list of allowed filetypes, and the script could then search for those files in the zip too. It was just not described as required, so I didn't bother adding them. It doesn't read folders in the zip at this moment, but that functionality could be added if it is required. The question is then, hby tman - General
I have no idea where to put this, so I'll just post it here. I've made an upload button as described on It lacks some of the functionality, and uses a few hacks because mediawiki really has bad documentation of their code. Lots of great documentation for users, but really poor comments in the code for developers. This extension can not render .dfx files, as required and it can not inlay the imaby tman - General

I don't really know what printer you should buy, but once you decided, here is where you can buy them: If you want a Mendel, this page is useful for finding the parts: Makerbot can be bought on and UP on I hope that information helps you.by tman - General

Although I haven't started building mu own Mendel yet, its the fact that it isn't a finished product between strict lines that attracted me to the project. I can choose between all the different designs and take what looks the best to me. I don't want an off-the-shelf product like the Chinese 3D-printers, I want it to be fully customizable. That is why I have chosen for RepRap and not something lby tman - General
I'm still reading about repraps and haven't build one yet, but I read that a heated bed might help for making ABS stick to the bed (source: ) I hope that helps.by tman - Reprappers
Thanks nophead for preventing me from making that mistake. Unfortunately I don't know anything about mosfets except that it is something with 3 connectors. So I have no clue on where to add the mosfet and thermistor to make the firmware control the temperatures. The wiki suggested to use an Arduino with an lcd etc. for controlling the temperature, so I thought that was the only option. Is thereby tman - General
I'm thinking about buying and making a reprap, and I'll probably want to make a heated bed for it too. Now I want to keep the costs rather low, and it seems to me that the temperature controller on the wiki would be rather expensive. So I came up with my own design. I only have some basic knowledge of electronics, so it could be that it would never work. So do you guys think this could work: I wby tman - General
