Well not a lot of interest, but I'll be firing this 2nd model up again and checking out its portability capable status after it gets colder, traps me indoors and I finally unpack it from my carry on. Here's an aluminum casting I made from PLA on this printer & some beercans.by scoot - General New Machines Topics
@Pippy - Thank you! MKSA: Agreed, that would be nice! But needing four and at $171 each, would be too heavy to be easily portable and each one would cost more than the original printer. BTW, I can't tell you how many times I thought of your sig line while designing & building this contraption! This is key to the cheap, simple and portable element I think. But you're right about the leadscrews of course, their geometry/precision and this was one of the concerns that I figured would have to be answered with 'the proof is in the pudding'. I did my best to keep everything as straight and true as possible. As I already mentioned, I will have all leadscrews checked & straightened as neceby scoot - General New Machines Topics
I've been wanting some kind of compact portable printer and have had thoughts of a 'crosshead' design that might fit in. I wanted light weight, decent prints, and knock down to fit it in my roll on luggage so it could stay with me. I was willing to give up high speed and wanted to spend as little money as possible to keep domestic peace given I already have 2 printers. Well your friends are wrong, Amazon* has fast shipping if it's stocked in USA and usually better shipping than AliExpress or Banggood if it does come out of China. I usually buy from China and have to wait 3 times as long, but Amazon is second if I see a deal or need it quick and EVERY time(not too many) there was a foul up or faulty part they or their seller stood behind the deal including freeby scoot - General
You're right, it is similar to Ultimaker, in fact I 'discovered' the Ultimaker design after I started on this and found I could use an aftermarket print head designed for the Ultimaker. My objectives were to be simple, cheap and portable w/ easy takedown and setup. QuoteEgonVLC ... Having a second thought, if I mount the motor centered under the bed, with the leadscrew "looking down", I could use just that one, but the printer height should acomodate that double z height... But it's not practical nor elegant, and I don't really know even if it would work. I did this and it actually works pretty well. But you need to mount it on a tall stand or bore a holeby scoot - CoreXY Machines
Is it that it's mostly PEEK plastic*, isolating most of the heat down at the nozzle end? I'm new so forgive if that's already common, all the ones I've seen so far were all metal so it is also likely lighter as claimed, but we have no idea if the internals are redesigned as well. There is this in the linked site but little else: Genuine J-Headâ„¢ hotends print consistently faster and are more reby scoot - General
I have a MKS GEN-L V1.0 board on my i3 clone that shipped w/ a4988 stepper drivers in only 4 of the 5 sockets. Now I want to add a second extruder and use the 5th stepper. Rather than get a 5th a4988, I got 5 of the newer 8825 drivers, advertised as an a4988 upgrade w/ 1/32 step resolution capability. I have assumed they are plug & play other than a possible voltage adjustment? Will I need toby scoot - General
Hello, I am a noob and have just finished assembling my first printer, an FLSUN i3 clone. One of the reasons 3D printing attracted me is its potential to support my other hobbies, namely pattern work for my home foundry which in turn supports my love of old 2 stroke geared Vespa scooters. Now I am imagining all sorts of applications, including a scale motor like this one a friend in Britain is cby scoot - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
