As a person who uses "Proprietary" CNC controllers, and "Open" or semi-open CNC and 3D printer controllers on a regular basis, I believe G-Code consistency is a VERY important idea. I endorse this, and volunteer to do anything I can to help. IMHO, NIST standard should be the strongest driver.
