Extruder Motor not running - 12 years ago
Hi Guys an Gals Since moving to prontoface I cannot print as the extruder motor just 'rocks' back and forth. I tried this motor on an axis and it works just fine, swapped another motor and the problem is the same. Am running both windows 7 64 and 32 bit and the problem is duplicated. Arduino 18... The design of the nozzle and other parts is my own, thats how I know what is coming. I have enough experience with the Mendel, Darwin and other designs now to be able to help. The nozzle,like any other design is an evolution process. There is no need to have a debate on this. Nophead made a no cost restriction nozzle at great effort and credit to him. This nozzle is engineered as a single piece, no joints,no threads, nothing. All you have to do is mount the Peek, 2 additional spaces (unless you print a new base) and a fan, though on the Mendel that I use with 0.4mm I dby Phobia1 - General

Yes of course that is true, but as I mentioned way above, I only use PLA and the technique I use works like a dream on glass with a simple 2.5V supply pulling 10amps for the first layer and then just 5amps for the rest. No high temperatures. Oops this is getting a touch out of hand. Like you I do not wish to upset anyone, thats not the idea. I shall create a wiki page soon, that may be the bestby Phobia1 - General

I think that you are mistaken. There is no such nozzle design like this around. Nophead in fact was the first to see it and I would not like to offend anyone. He knows that better than anyone. We believe that we can help many with our work and that is simply our aim. I shall put photos on the web site in a few days and more details for the nozzles. For glass its all about balance. You can get to 65C and even 100C but its not required. My power supply is a Maplins variable, expensive at 130 pounds but you can use a psu and convert it to work almost as well. Hi Guys the price has been fixed now. IMHO its a good deal at last. They will also offer a boxed set 0.4, 0.35, 0.30 and 0.25 or whatever you require. prices in that case are much better. All I shall say is that I can get very close already to my guru, Nophead who is no.1 as far as I am concerned and I am cracking parts out to my liking everyday now in any colour. Up until this nozzle I have had nothing but nightmares. Great parts ruined by blobs, parts not printing to the end. I went around in circles for almost 2 months. Yes I USE only PLA and could not beleive the results. Another tester uses ABS and he has a 0.3 version, The one I have is 0.35 but its available from 0.5 to 0.2mm. There will be a completely new extruder I hear to go with it that cleans up the mendel much. I have seen it but can't comment until I try it out. Fby Phobia1 - General

Hi Guys and Gals I have been testing a new, weird looking nozzle. Its CNC made and a registered design. All that I can say is that it solved the 3 problems that were plaguing my printing in seconds, no leaking, heavier pressure handling and less upward heat. Its a winner in my book but weird to look at. the website is should anyone be interested and they are taking orders for end June delivery.by Phobia1 - General

Hi Guys Skeinforge 4 works great but sometimes it just will not load a part and crashes on the fill script with object not iterable. If I disable fill, the object loads in skeinforge. I change all the fill setting back to default, activate fill. save all when I load in repsnapper it prints only the outline. If I open the file again ...not iterable on fill script. I can't get z-axis to always be zero, or even close. Its always set at -30 or -19. If I load the same STL in any other program, Z is always 0 or at base level. There must be a way to control it, if only I could find the info. In repsnapper I can load the G-code generated but can't print it. I have a request please. Can you add the Z axis setting and x and y axis positions in the same place. IMHO the default for Z should be 0. Thats where every other program put it. Its very odd to be set at -33 or -19 so please set the Z always to 0 and show it along with X and Y. Best Frederickby Phobia1 - Skeinforge

It does work and is very good. I sold my first Mendel to a close friend, this 2nd I have Gen6. IMHO the pololu is better though soon they will upgrade the board to have more memory due to more modern requirements. I shall go back to it next time for certain. I have win7 Ultimate 64bit and installed java 6 update 22 64bit and it worked right away. The only problem is that they seem to have stopped compiling the host software fro win7 64bit, which irritatess me because thats the way to go. Soon all the old systems will be OUT. However I would run the 32bit version but can't get it to run. The eclipse thing didn't work for me though the 32bit version ofby Phobia1 - RepRap Host

I think the best option is to setup the software to work both as 64bit and 32bit. Currently the 64bit version is a long way behind. Does anyone have both 32bit and 64bit working on the same machine? I can't get the 32bit version to run, seems to be a Java error. V5 and v6 I have installed. Best Fby Phobia1 - Reprappers

My Mendel with Gen6 is working. It must be made clear to everyone IMHO that the boostrapper is pre-loaded before you receive the Gen 6. I used Arduino 18 and 22 and Both in the end work. Its simply a matter of holding your finger on the reset button and count as a variable. So hit send to board whilst holding the reset button, now count, 1 and 2 etc. mine was 6, then release the button and watchby Phobia1 - Sanguino(lolu)

Hi Guys an Gals Its fun time for me. This time for my 2nd Mendel I got Gen6. What a minefield it seems to be. I have finally got the code to compile and even though have followed the guidelines with reset and then upload, the green debug LED is constantly lit or it just appears that way. I have Arduinio 022 compiler. How to check that the compilation for Sanquino is uploaded? And then what do I hby Phobia1 - Sanguino(lolu)

Hi Guys and Gals I keep trying to use the repap software as its being developed well for 32bit and I simply can't get it to run. 64bit works fine but is well outdated. Skeinforge and every other software I have runs fine. Any chance of a new compilation for 64bit windows 7 please? I have a new function that I request to be added, who do I write to, talk to? Hi Guys an gals I use Pro-Engineer and have tried all others so please I stay with it. Does anyone else have a complete file for Mendel that I can ask for? Hi Guys an Gals Does anyone have a proper BOM for the parts list of Adrain's build? Whilst I have waited 3 months and counting for Gen 6 to be delivered have decided to build my own and perhaps this is a better option.
