Hi all, I have just got an E3D Titan Extruder which has finally allowed me to print flexible materials. A while ago I brought some FPE (45D if it matters?) and am able to get it to print, but it is lifting. Currently I have the settings at: Bed: 75C Kapton covered Glass Filament: 235C Which is the suggest settings for this filament. What settings have people used to get it to stick to the bedby smartroad - General
Hi all, I have finally got my printer with a dual extrusion. Currently I have the offset (+18mm in X axis) between the two extruder nozzles set in Slic3r. It works great but previews also have the extrusion offset in the preview. In firmware there is the ability to have the offset in Repetier (0.92.3) which wants it as steps - has anyone used this? Do I simple take my 18mm offset and multiply iby smartroad - Repetier
Quotesarf2k4 Hi, I'm on marlin firmware but I wanted to give a try to dry run mode. Does repetier host suffice to do dry run mode? I think that you need Repetier firmware as wellby smartroad - Repetier
Hi All, I am trying to understand the backlash setting in Repetier. It asks for a number in mm's but I have no idea what it wants... I have searched on here and on the famous search engine, lots about backlash in general but nothing on the setting in Repetier Firmware. Any help would be appreciated!by smartroad - Repetier
I was wondering if there is anyway to get CuraEngine working on Repetier-Host? I find it produces better code for thin walls compared to Slic3r and is just as fast.by smartroad - Repetier
This has been mentioned before (can't remember where). I think the response was that that is the eventual plan. Although Rep-Serv seems to have died off somewhat at the moment. Understandable as Rep-Firm and Host start to reach V1. It is a shame though that it has been a while, 6 months since last update in dev branch on github - although with Rep-Host going closed source this may not indicate anby smartroad - Repetier
Thanks all for the replies Quotebobc I tried ebay, and just got bent sheets. YMMV, but seems pot luck to me. I now use 5mm Ecocast from . It's precision machined and dead flat, and costs about £15 for a 300mm square plate cut to size, shipping is a little pricy but very good service. I may go with that one. Using their quote suggested about £7 for a 200mm sized one (not counting shipping etc)by smartroad - General
I have been having issues getting a decent aluminium plate for my machine. I can find people and compaines selling the things, but they are rarely flat. Does anyone know where I can buy a perfectly flat plate in the UK?by smartroad - General
Solved! It was something to do with the eeprom. I noticed curruption in the eeprom (reporting total filament as NaN). I changed the eeprom offset to force the system to re-write the eeprom and get rid of that error. On the off chance I tried extruder 2 again, and now it works!by smartroad - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I have been trying to get a second extruder working with Repetier on a Megatronics 2.0 board with little success. The problem is Extruder 2 doesn't turn when it is selected. In Repetier-Host I can select Extruder 1 and tell it to extrude an amount - its motor turns. If I then select Extruder 2 and tell it to extrude then I get nothing - the motors magnets engage but there is no motion. It isn'tby smartroad - Firmware - mainstream and related support

@NjEmt527 As long as you have a beeper and have updated the pins.h file to say what pin it is on, I don't see why not! I tried bobc's file which is great! However my buzzer sounds a bit worse for wear and it is terrible! I'll stick to a simple beep to say it has finished.by smartroad - General
Just ordered my second E3D hotend. It has been a great system. Easy to build and use. Excellent prints as well.by smartroad - General
I have ben buying from RRW a while now and have had no issues with filament. Been buying the 1.75mm stuff (noth PLA and ABS) and it has been great. Needed to get temps up to 220C but other wise no problems with it.by smartroad - General

I have finally managed to get the beeper working in Marlin on my Megatronics board and I was wondering, does anyone have some good tunes for indicating that the print is finished?by smartroad - General
Found out part of my issue, my multimeter is so far out of calibration it is a bin job! I used a higher quality multimeter to read the resistances and I am nearly spot on. Thanks for the blog post, kept me going thinking that it can be done Now I just need to sort out the nichrome wire burning through the kapton tape. I was thinking fire cementing it into place?by smartroad - General
Well tried making my own table, using infrared thermometer to give temp and multimeter to give resistance of thermistor. That didn't work, ended up with it displaying temps far far lower then actually was when re-connected with the heated bed. I am at a total loss and have run out of ideas. is there anyone who can help me, please?by smartroad - General
I think it is something to do with the thermistor. I've been running an experiment on my Huxley. I plugged my new thermistor into the hotend sensor input and tapped it to the top of the Huxley's bed. Then I set the bed temp to 60C and waited. The Huxley's bed sensor reports it at 60C but the new sensor is reporting 55C (see attached). Would it be something to do with the thermistor table?by smartroad - General
I am trying to setup the heated bed for my printer. I am having a few issues. Once wired up I set it to heat to 40C as a test. I monitored the temperature with repetier-host and also an infra-red thermometer. The infra-red thermometer showed the temperature on the top of the bed hit near 50C while the beds thermistor eventually got to 40C. The infra-red probe showed the temperature slowly drop tby smartroad - General
Ordered mine Yay! 4 week wait Boo! LOLby smartroad - General
@jinx I have a emaker hotend for my Huxley which is actively cooled. I have have found that you need to keep the fan going until it gets below 90C (at least) before shutting down. I imagine the same is true for this hot end tooby smartroad - General

Hi All, I am trying to compile Marlin for my Megatronics V2.0 and have been successful until I try to enable an LCD. All I want at the moment is a 16x2 display to give basic information (as I have a 16x2 display handy). I am struggling as when I enable the ULTRA_LCD define I get the following compilation error: ultralcd.cpp: In function 'void lcd_init()': ultralcd.cpp:829: error: 'SHIFT_CLK' wby smartroad - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Thanks! Once I have it up and running I have plans to design a single extruder which would reduce the size of the X Axis and going the other way with a tri-extruder which will use bowden tubes for the 2nd and 3rd extruders. I now have the machine moving: if anyone is interested to see. Again I have a wait until payday to be able to buy the extruder hardware and heated bed.by smartroad - Extruded Aluminum Frames
I actually printed issue 2 out. Until there is an e-reader that is the size of a magazine page I like my mags in paper form. Reading a mag on an e-reader or tablet is a pain, having to zoom in and out to read text etc. That said I wouldn't pay €14 for a magazine! I have a colour laser printer and just ran it through thatby smartroad - RepRap magazine
Quick question when Slic3r is using multiple extruders, what happens to the hotend that currently isn't in use? Does it maintain its operating temp or shutdown until it is needed again?by smartroad - Slic3r
I am currently building a printer which will (eventually) have at least 2 hotends. At the moment I am looking at electronics to drive it. My favorite at the moment is the RUMBA. However I am a little worried about power. It has two power inputs, one at 10A for the heated bed and another at 5A for everything else. Hotend wise I am thinking of the E3D variant which supposedly comes with a 40W heateby smartroad - General
Thought I would share my work so far. I have been building my own design of fabricator using 20mm extruded aluminium. I wanted to make the printer so it uses the maximum number of printed parts while using the minimum number of tools to build it. So far all I have used are 2 different hex keys and a set of pliers. The axis' all clip over their linear bearings and seem more than tight enough. I wby smartroad - Extruded Aluminum Frames
