Hi, I hope all are well, I have been having problems with my Reprap electronics recently with problems with the Y axis and temperature readout. After some help from forum user (Thanks ) I am now having trouble with my thermistor. I have little electronics experience and can't find a solution. Description below. When the machine is started and connected to RepSnapper, there is an M105 commandby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi everyone, Further checks and attempts to repair the above have not been successful. I think have done something which has made things worse as I can no longer get any kind of response/readout from the axis or temperature.- any chance of some ideas into further areas to check? So, quick update Hardware - Gen3 electronics, running 5D firmware using RepSnapper. Problem 1 - The Y axis does notby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi Marnargulus - I didn't make the ribbon cable myself. I only checked connections with a multimeter on the header pins to check the connections were soldered without any problems. I'll do this again with MB/Stepper Driver connected. Hi Nophead - I'll give the pins on the MB and Stepper driver a clean and see if this improves the connections. Thanks for all of the help - as always, very much apby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi, I hope all are well. Please could anyone give some input into correcting the following problem I'm having with either my ribbon cable or motherboard (maybe both - ) I'm using Gen3 Electronics with Repsnapper and the FiveD firmware. The connection between my Y axis stepper motor driver and motherboard seems to have a fault. I'm not sure if this is down to the Stepper Driver, Motherboard orby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi Bob, Thanks for the confirmation. I'll get working on this now. Thanks again.by RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi, The temperature is set in Repsnapper at 200C and my Start GCode has M104 S200 T0 at the beginning. I may need to increase this slightly to maintain a nozzle temperature above 190C for multiple part prints. I've only printed 3-4 parts per print, when i did try to print 6 vertices at once i had extruder problems so need to look into this further to see if this was due to hardware or softwareby RepRapRaj83 - Skeinforge
Hi CdnRepRap, Yes, i'm using Gen3. I have a spare Gen3 2.2 stepper driver so need to know if this can be used with fried H-Bridges on the Extruder Board. Thanks. Rajby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi, I hope all forum members are well. Please see below some SF41 settings for a RepRap Mendel on Windows 7 using an Adrians Geared Extruder, 0.4mm nozzle (producing extrudate a width of roughly 0.48mm), Repsnapper and PLA Plastic. Thanks go to NelsonRap who initially posted some settings which got me started. I have tweaked some of these settings and managed to print some good quality calibrby RepRapRaj83 - Skeinforge
I hope all are well on the forum. Good news - I got my first RepRap up and running and managed to print a set of parts for another Mendel. I'll post an outline of SF41 settings used shortly. Bad news - Whilst testing my stepper motors for my second printer, the extruder board lets out 2 bright orange glows and a puff of smoke. RIP H-Bridges . Hi, I hope all on the forum are well. I''ve made a new nozzle for my Mendel as my old nozzle is no more . I have followed the design shown here (http://reprap.org/mediawiki/images/6/69/Better-nozzle-machined-parts.png) and have finished my first nozzle. See attached. I wondered if any people have some input into what is size hole is best the thermal barrier and brass hot end? The design aboveby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi, Hope all is well. If you are using SF 40 or SF41 for slicing files, you can use the following formula. (Steps Per 360 Degrees Revolution*Gear Ratio)/(Pinchwheel Diameter*Pi) Steps Per 360 Degrees Revolution - Gen 3 Extruders have half steps so this should be 400 steps per rotation Gear Ratio - Im not sure if there are any variances in the number of teeth on the Wades gears but this shoulby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi everyone, Thanks for the feedback. It's good to read others thoughts on this. I would agree that there is a lot of skill required to get mechanical/software components configured to get good prints. I don't think any mug could build one though. Putting a printer together wasn't like putting together some flat pack furniture. That said, I'm not trying to suggest it was the hardest thing on tby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi, I hope all on the forum are well. Would you be able to let me know your thoughts on the following... I am very close to completing a RepRap Mendel (Just need to get some SF41 settings fine tuned) and would like to know if the skills gained whilst building one would allow me to get a foot in the door to begin an apprenticeship/entry level engineering role. I have no engineering qualificatioby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi Bob, I had originally saved my replace.csv file in the format you've outlined which is when i started to have problems with my extruder. At the same point i updated my start.gcode file so i'm amending this to the standard start code from Repsnapper. Thanks Rajby RepRapRaj83 - General
I tried to print with an older gcode file which has proved to be much more sucessful than earlier print attempts. This file did not have any code commented out. As this worked for me i have started to remove comments from this file. Picture attached of 2 attempt prints of a minimug. The first print on the left had a good base layer but stopped after 4 layers. M101 was commented out from the gcoby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi Andrew, Bob, Thank you both for the input. It looks as if extruder issues are being caused by one too many or one too few commands in my compiled code. I'll give the updated gcode a try tomorrow, along with a test file without any comments.by adding/removing codes from each file, i should be able to get one of them working. Fingers crossed ! Thanks again to you both Rajby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi, Hope all are well. Would any forum users be able to provide example .gcode files used for printing. Im having trouble getting my extruder to work correctly when loading gcode files through RepRap host and RepSnapper. I am currently using SF41 to slice files and have tried to load these using RepRap Host and RepSnapper. At the moment I have not been able to print successfully. (Win 7, Genby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi JB, Thanks for taking the time to read my query. I have updated the E_STEPS_PER_MM parameter in the firmware. This now extrudes accurately. For anyone out there with an Adrians Geared Extruder connected directly to the extruder board pushing a 3mm filament via a 7.96mm Spline, this came out at roughly 85.8 using (400*(57/11)*(7.96*pi)). Hi Brnrd, As above, thanks for taking the time to reaby RepRapRaj83 - General
Hi I hope all on the forum are well. First of all, thanks to all who have responded to my previous queries on my RepRap build concerning software freezes and SF/Firmware settings. Without help from the forum members, i would not have been able to get to this stage of my build. I am close to printing objects but need some final help with calibration (i think). I have attached the test.gcode filby RepRapRaj83 - General
Thanks for that information. I have updated the firmware e_steps to 85.8 and will run some more tests. Another post on which i posted the same message (http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?154,86701) has suggested the firmware needs to be updated to over roughly 10 times my initial calculation. Could any readers please post how much they have had to increase their e_steps_per_mm in the firmware fby RepRapRaj83 - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Thanks for the feedback. I have been told that the G3 boards use half stepping on the extruder board so have updated my firmware e_steps to 85.8. I'll run some tests and update the thread with more details. Thanks Rajby RepRapRaj83 - Skeinforge
Hi, I hope all on the forum are well. I wonder if if would be possible for some help with firmware/software to address the follwoing problem. I took a look at the standard 64 bit firmware (20100719) and uploaded this to the motherboard. Before doing so I added '#define EXTRUDER_COUNT 1' (below #define INCHES_TO_MM 25.4) and '#define USE_THERMISTOR' (below '#define MENDEL 1') to the relevant places in the configuration.h file in the firmware upload. This stopped the axis from freezing when they were homed and i'm also able to regiby RepRapRaj83 - RepRap Host
Hi, Hope all are well. I wonder if it’s possible for some feedback regarding some issues I’m having with my RepRap build – Here’s some background info. Apologies if I’ve gone overboard with the details but I thought it best to provide as much information as possible. Build – Mendel – Connected through COM1 on the communications port on my Laptop.
